Coventry Medicare Advantage - Non Payment of New Commissions

I sell it too and am waiting to get paid on 20 that I'm owed through M of O(suppose to pay this Friday). Most were written five months ago.

Russ, I'm in the same boat as you. Have you spoken with someone in commissions at MoO and, if so, did they claim to plan to pay the full amount for 'new to Medicare' or just the first half?

I spoke with someone a couple of weeks ago, but the call got...ahem... "disconnected" when I got frustrated by the lack of answers.

I was told by, I believe her name is Rose at M of O in commissions, that they were paying commissions on the new PDP's..."the end of the month", which is this week. I didn't ask about getting the full amount too.

Just started selling the part D with Coventry,

I guess I should not be in any hurry to get paid :

If their through M of O, they usually pay the next month on new applications that are issued...for instance if you wrote one the first part of April, it would be May that you would be paid. Once they get caught up on what their behind on, it should go more smoothly.

They are now paying the week after the mid-month renewals.

Why would someone contract through MOO, when you can get a direct contract ?

Unless you enjoy charity work, DON'T WRITE FOR COVENTRY AT ALL. I could go on and on about this ridiculous company, I have a thread about them on this forum.

Here is a letter I received from BlueCross of TN. I have written several of their advantage plans, and they sent an update regarding the commissions on new enrollees:

Update on Medicare Advantage Commission Payment

To Our Valued Agents:
As you should be aware, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mandated that all commissions on Medicare Advantage enrollments for 2009 be paid at the renewal rate until CMS updates its systems and notifies plan carriers which enrollments can be deemed "first time". BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) has researched a method for paying the full initial commission on first time enrollees into a Medicare Advantage plan.
Enrollments submitted by prospects during their Initial Coverage Election Period (ICEP), which occurs once Medicare Part B benefits are awarded, will receive special coding to reflect that the beneficiary is enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan for the first time. The special code will instruct Commissions to pay the agent/broker at the "initial" or first year commission rate. BCBST implemented this process on April 6, 2009. BCBST is also in the process of reviewing all 2009 enrollments that could have been submitted during the beneficiary's ICEP and were received prior to April 6, 2009, in order to update the coding and adjust the agent's/broker's commission payment.

Unfortunately, we aren't able to determine "first time" enrollees outside of their ICEP. It is necessary for us to wait for the CMS report to determine commission payment for any other Medicare Advantage enrollments.

BCBST and the Community Programs Department values its relationship with our credentialed agents/brokers and is striving to act in a manner that complies with CMS guidelines but is also fair to our marketing community. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this process.
Have a great day!

"Have a great day!" That was warm and fuzzy!

Our newest issue with Coventry is they are creating false negative charge-backs on our commission statement. This is yet another excuse to not pay us. I guess I should just be patient and have a great day!
