Current Business Owner, New Producer, Looking to go IA...

No, I didn't really watch that show.

Look, he's a great actor, while I think there are better, that was an extremely well written show, and he was absolutely perfect for that part. That's one of many things that show did extremely well, was fit the part and the writing with the actor. Mike Ehrmantraut, Saul Goodman, Walter White. C'mon, I challenge you to think of people that would be better for those roles.
I did and he was good in it. Breaking Bad was the 1st thing I'd seen him in that wasn't a comedy. I'd seen him in Seinfeld and King Of Queens before Malcom. Breaking Bad shows how versatile an actor he is.

Same here. I watched an interview with Chris Carter. One of the things that made the original series great was the idea that the government could be watching, scheming against us and lying to us.

Now that we KNOW they are doing that, it takes away from the show.

Plus Scully is nowhere near as hot as she used to be.

Hello,

I've been in the technology consulting business for over 20 years. I've also extensive experience in insurance including having written an underwriting system for an MGA. This past year I decided to acquire my P&C license and now I am looking to get rolling as a producer.

Quite honestly, there are a number of directions that I can go in, including creating new software products for other areas of the insurance marketplace.

Not having experience in the agent space, I am looking to get started. I'm not looking to be captive and would prefer to own my book, which I expect that I can develop very quickly through my existing business connections. Also, I may seek to specialize in Cyber, an area I know very well.

I was wondering if folks had any thoughts on what I might do?

I'm located in Connecticut.

Good choice to choose Commercial Lines! That is where the fun is at! If you were to specialize in Cyber one could use a wholesaler that specializes in this area and own your book without the need for a group or aggregator. Wholesaler like Cyber, Internet, and Liability Insurance Broker- INSUREtrust would offer the product and you could work it on a national basis.

Your problem is the learning curve, and how much time can you invest in learning. IRMI is a great resource for commercial lines, but one needs to take the classroom to the field. Working as a commercial producer for local independent is maybe something to consider, at least until you have a good feel for policy's. With your IT background and desire to niche sell Cyber you might be a good fit for many.

Yeah, I've heard the same things, and hold the same opinions.

I wouldn't get to excited about it unless Bryan Cranston was in it, and the rumors I am hearing - he isn't. I'll probably still watch it anyhow.

My two favorite things: This is a sticker on my quad!

Cranston made the series, for sure!
