Denny's to Add a 5% Obamacare Surcharge to Bill

Well, what I hope things like this does is actually open an honest discussion with the WH about the costs of this plan. What people have to do is stop making it about some sort of hate towards who got elected. Energy now should be focused on making changes to the plan design. Find the things that clearly don't work and push for removal. Hey they already did it with the LTC side of this. It wasn't going to work, they finally realized it and it's gone from the plan.

It has to be approached with acknowledgement that it is here, not going away, but still can be shaped to be workable.

I live in the only state that adopted hillarycare. The only one. For about five years it was hell. It wasn't working. Then some compromises started to be reached and it started to work. I see the same with Obamacare, it's going to be terrible for about five years and then consumer backlash is going to start forcing changes, not all in the negative for the industry. That's how it worked here.

But it's got to be about the issue, not the person who created it. As long as it's about Barry, we're playing from behind.

In a perfect world, that would be great, but most are going to take it as a point fingers, as questions later scenario.

I forgot about the great state of WA, although I thought MA has there own state sponsored health plan?

I agree, moderation of the bill is in the future. One of changes has to be a move to voluntary employer benefits, otherwise you'll have lost jobs or reduced income due to part time status changes.

Restaurant owner plans 'ObamaCare surcharge' - The Hill's Healthwatch

UPDATE: Metz, through a spokesman, is now saying won't actually implement the policy. He still plans to cut his workers' hours, but "the surcharge is not to be implemented or considered at this time."

LGilmore, a sane and thoughtful voice among those who know the tent is collapsing. Obamacare and other things are here to stay. It will take time to work it out and be costly for a few years. It also was costly and a long time to work out of prohibition. How long has it taken for the wealthy insurance companies to get all the children in the US instant medical care? How long does it take to realize that people in the US go to bed hungry? And how many licensed insurance agents have been at the party and ignored these major problems? And, where has the Forbes 500 contributed billions to help New Yorkers and others get back on their feet?

Jaystar, you are clearly clueless on this topic.

Yes, some form of Obamacare is here for a while at least . . . until the US goes the way of Greece and other Socialist countries. Who will bail us out then?

And how many licensed insurance agents have been at the party and ignored these major problems?

I don't know one agent that wouldn't want to, or tried to, get every child insured. We don't make the rules, we help clients beat whatever circumstance that are subjected to.

BTW, you are dis-invited from my party.

You know what dude...I agree with you 100%... We need to tax people making above 400% of poverty at 75%.... Eliminate deductions... Do like France, things would be so better... I'm right there with ya bro....these people making over 90 grand don't need that money... We need to take care of all people... Everyone...we are one of many....

You with me jay?

If I were the president (or better yet the King) I would make the rich work for minimum wage at hard labor like roofing houses and digging ditches. That way they wouldn't want to be rich and would give all their money to the government where it would be put to great stewardship buying more gold for the king.

We need to bring these rich bastages to their knees! How dare they?

O.K. guys, you who have been working for 30+ years, and of course working in your own communities and organizations, and too busy making all kinds of money haven't taken time to see what a lousy job WE have all done.
