Dental Insurance For Seniors

When new clients come into the office and ask about dental insurance I have to explain why buying individual dental is not always the best option. First, take the premium, now divide that into the max/year the plan will pay, that is your "rate of insurance" and it is very high compared to other insurances you must have such as health, life, home, and auto. Now, take the fact that before it covers anything serious you have to be into your second year of carrying the policy. Two years of paying $35/mo on a plan paying $1000/yr max.... does that make sense?
There are those that know they have a long road of expensive dental work ahead, for them, dental insurance makes sense, but for most of the population, stand alone dental ins. is not a good bet.

Why don't you spend that time explaining the benefits, sell it and make a commission. You will be happier in the long run.

Re: Dental

Jayne,

what plan are you using?

Thank you

Humana. If they currently have dental needs there is no wait with the HMO, if they just want the usual preventive with maybe some work they get the preventive. I quote both and let them choose. Humana is so less expensive then the other Carriers. I have their vision and it is great. I had the plan for one day, paid a $10. co-pay for an exam, and $180 for $750 glasses. Not sure how they do it but I am liking it.

They do no waiting period by requiring a 12 month commitment.

I am in Charlotte and looking to get into insurance as a new career. I am tired of traveling away from home nightly covering 2 states in sales. I have spoken to Physicians Mutual over the phone. Have heard negative on old forum posts about them, but nothing is recent. I am interested in Senior Insurance. Any advice?

I see this same comment posted on only 7 threads? You need more, much more. Also try the technology and hardware forums.
