Did You Ever Feel Like Quitting Insurance?

Why did I throw in the towel a few times? First mistake I made: assigning commissions. Please do not do that. Ultimately, you will not be paid. The agency you assign those commissions to own your business. Second mistake I made: please only sign contracts with vesting from day one. I lost hundreds of thousands in business making those two mistakes.

It is disheartening. You think you are building something for someone else to steal. I call it theft. I gave the thieves permission by signing the wrong contracts.

Thanks Mary for sharing your positive and negative experiences. Would you (or anyone) mind sharing what you mean by "assigning commissions" and also "signing contracts with vesting from day one." I'm new and in the recruiting process with State Farm and want to understand more about this. Thank you!

When you assign your commissions they are payable to someone else ( who you assigned them to) and they in turn pay you. That is not a good idea I have known around a dozen people who have signed assignment forms and have gotten screwed.

I think you could assume everyone on this forum with at least a years experience would say they have thought about quitting. If they told you otherwise, I think they'd be lying. 11 years in for me, burnt by a company, burnt by people I trusted, ya I've thought about it too. It got in my blood.
