Do You Crossell or Specialize?

Yep... they pay everything.... except for that $ 6,700 moop! :1arghh:

80% of the time the mapd folks have NO idea wtf they have or how it works... In fact, about 15 mins after an appt with a basic understandding of what they have... they still have NO idea what they have... except that it pays EVERYTHING! Oh well.

But the FE mkt is a decent lead in to folks that are receiving Extra Help (SEP monthly) and can occassionally be upgraded in their mapd plan, like the one I did yesterday. An easy $ 207 for going back for another 30-40 mins and filling out a form, and drastically upgrading the beneficiaries coverage. (Also good for building an Oct 15 list for those not receiving Extra Help).

Yes, I was only talking about the people on the Supplements.

The MA people I usually just let them know that they should review the plan each October with their agent and that I can help them with that if they want to call me in October. Then I give them my magnet business card. Many of them do call in October. I actually hate working on the Medicare Advantage business but I usually bird dog it to my wife and we require 100% of them to come to our office so it's not so bad. We do a bunch of it.

Newby - "I lead in with FE 95% of the time and then cross sell a lot of Medicare supplements."

JD - "The ones full of crap would the FE agent working the FE market saying they get a lot of med sup opportunities."

Two big dog FE agents, friends, fishing in the same pond. How can you guys be posting the exact opposite. It is confusing.

Maybe one works Kentucky and the other works the more upscale Southern Indiana. haha

I don't know.

Most of the people that I run into in the FE biz that are on supplements are on Vitamin D, ExLax and those type of supplements... I would say that I might see a med supp maybe 1 out of 20 FE appts. It is either A&B only with no additional ins, or MAPD with the other 19 folks.

Location is a factor as well. Some places are hotbeds for MS so MS to FE works well. Other places are not spectacular in the MS so FE can be a better lead in. I only sell part time so I tend to stick with FE but I do send some MS mailers in October-November for the annual enrollment period. Every appointment though, I inquire about their situation so if the opportunity for cross sell appears then I can jump on it.

I have always gotten a better lead response by talking about medicare, but I have made more money selling FE. The main reason is that with med supps, folks 67 and older cuts the commission in half (at least in Arkansas)

I consider medicare leads to have better cross-selling opportunities, and FE to have greater keeping the lights on opportunities, it's really just personal preference.

I only sell FE. I have never sold any other products. A lot of agents I talk to ask why I leave money on the table. But I don't really see it that way. If I took the time to cross sell I think I would sell less FE. And FE is my is definitely my "money maker".

I love FE because of the simplicity. I feel that if I added cross selling to my FE clients it would just create more work for me.

And right now I have no shortage of work that's for sure!!

Im a lil confused too cause Im looking into the MS/MA biz too now....but from all the stuff Ive read or listened to & the ppl Ive talked to about it recently, it kinda does depend on your area.

I mean all have said FE ppl wont be ppl on med supps for the MOST part, but I think "Most" will very somewhat from location to location.

Im just trying to soak it all in & get in the game, doing FE f/t & med supps & MA p/t!

You are in So Cal, I would bet most of your clients not only have a cell but also text. Most also have cable or satellite TV. One of my FE clients scanned and emailed me my first MS app yesterday.
