Does Hair Matter?

If this is your career and not your job, you have to think about your image. I know you cant change many things, but some things you can.

Like when I got braces. I really think it helped me to sell more insurance. People think other people that have buck teeth are stupid.

People also assume that fat people are lazy.

Might have been less about the look and more about the extra confidence you had.

I've been losing my hair for years, still have some though, no comb over. Goate yes. I've also been going grey since early 20's, I colored it for decades, then the mustache went grey, so now I am mostly grey. I think the grey hair helps the prospects relate to me. As far as clothes go, I've had agents that wore only suits/ties and agents that wore jeans and a nice shirt, no difference. I mostly wear jeans and an insurance company shirt (I have dozens from different companies), polished shoes, sometimes on hot days its shorts and sandals. None of this has affected my sales.

So Mark, do what ever makes you happy.

I just wear a road-kill kilt and no shirt to show off the tats. But I do have a full head of hair so I probably have a huge advantage over Mark.

My teeth could use a little fixin-uppin though. It's close to halloween. I'll get me some at that costume shop in October.

I wear shoes in the winter, it helps I think. I take a bath twice a week in the summer. And I go to church every Sunday, so I'm good to go.

Shave that shiite!! ;)

I did mine ten years ago when my head got sunburnt on the beach one day. It was barely thinning on the crown, couldn't even see the thinning, full every where else, but now that I knew about I was conscious all the time.

Once you shave your head... no more shampoo, hair cut appts, gel, brushes, combs, air dryers or spray, nada!!! You're free from the worry. Just shave it every 2-3 days, mach 3 & edge gel. Plus it takes no time getting ready in the morning. And ladies love a nice tan skull and can't keep their hands off it!!

Be like Nike and...

Then don't look like a slob. But based upon some of the stuff you say here, I gotta think your grasp of past tense gives you away.

People just everything from your hair, teeth, weight, cloths, car you drive any just about everything they know about you.

Shoes in the winder are over rated. Saturday night is bath night and church is where you make contact with the guy who supplies your "shine". I live in the Ozarks where they consider Deliverance a love story.

Hi,

Losing your hair should not be a problem. Your there to sell a policy. Be confident; don't over sell create a neutral ground. I tend to talk about sport, build a rapor because these are the things that sell not your hair.

Hello Mark,
It's not so much about what other people think about how you look physically as long as you are well groomed and professional. It's how you feel about yourself and it sounds like it does bother you to some degree. It can be fixed. If you feel good about yourself you will sell because you will come across more confident to your customer. You also mentioned you had your teeth fixed, so you are concerned about your appearance. Do you work out to go with this look? I'll stop here.
Good Luck
