Dropping Into Ethnic Areas

I am considering dropping into an area with a large minority of Hispanics.

I would like to hear about anyone here who has sold FE successfully in mixed ethnicities areas.

Main thing I'm worried about is any kind of language barrier. I don't want to be wasting money on lead drops, talking to mostly people who don't understand English.

Anybody have any experience with this?

While I believe most of these folks understand and speak some english, to be honest I feel you are wasting your time. If you can get past the language barrier, you will make sales, but that is the hard part.

Do you speak spanish? If so, then no problem. If you don't then it will be huge problem.

Maybe you could hire a Spanish speaking bum for cheap to be your interpreter. There may be some gold in there, because other agents steer clear of it. But I would steer clear too if it were me.

It has always struck me as odd how many non-English speaking people fill out and mail in a card that is in English.

I agree with Jimmy, that language thing is a excuse used so they do not have to talk to an insurance agent.

From my car selling days & some dealings with a few FE leads....they dont really truth you unless you speak Spanish, at least truth enough to buy something like LI.

Most will speak english or the buyer will speak english. If you are trusted you will be referred freely. Very loyal clients.

I write a fair amount of Hmong clients. I can kinda get out Hello in hmong. There is always someone there to interpret. My ethnis clients are very important to me. I get the most calls to buy and referrals from them.

To hmong? No. All word of mouth. But I found many of the original ones through orphan mailings.
