Entering Med Supps

I like working cold snow days....everybody is home and the seem more apt to let me in out of the cold.....I go to the door without a coat..that helps as well!

Does anybody give a damn that I sold my first med supp policy today?:noteworthy:

Nope!!!

Does anyone care that I had four Boulevard Pale Ales, two shot of Petron, and a Jameson on the rocks?

Didn't think so.

Good selling. Go get 500 or so more and you'll be living the good life. 800-1000 and you're the fat cat on the block.

gordo.. your a dick... how rude

And this whole thread is productive how? Notice Frank has some class, and is also a hard worker. He is not wasting his time arguing online or belittling agents. He is probably out selling, or helping agents to become experts on Medicare and Med Supps. Some people on this forum need to stop being little high-school girls and get to work. Being a new agent, I like this website because it allows me to seek expert advice (like Frank's) and give advice (if I have any to give).

Now to be hypocritical, Yoda seems like the biggest wussy of all. He enjoys bashing other people to feel good about himself. How funny I just also happened to finish a psychology class a week ago, and those are the exact symptoms of having low self-esteem. I dont know if I would take much advice with someone who has that low of self-esteem. Maybe he needs to pick up some Zoloft or something at the drug store.

I highly recommend Frank to any beginner...

P.S. Good Job on your first Med Supp sale whoever said that...

Welcome to the forum. I wish you well, and have a great career. What did you do before you got into insurance?

Remember this, Frank is a good teacher, he will get you going, but he can't teach you motivation. I wrote this at 7:12 a.m this morning, are you up and working yet, and I will finish at about 8 tonight. That's the motivation it takes to be successful in this business. I hope that you have the drive to be successful, because this can be a rewarding career. However, you will not make it selling med. supps. strictly over the phone. I busted my butt last year, and sold a lot of med. supps, and I was very successful, and the portion of my income that came from med. supps. was very low.

Find one other product that you like, and diversify. It is the ONLY way to make a decent living your first couple of years.

Since you are new, you will figure this out, but if I can help you not make the same mistakes that I have made, I will be glad to share that with you. Also, if you need verification that I am telling you the truth, I will email my total sales record for 2009, and the amount I made on med.supps. is minimal compared to other types of insurance. Now when the renewals start coming in, that will be really nice, but you need to make it through your first year to get there.

YOU WILL NOT MAKE A GREAT LIVING JUST COLD CALLING FOR MED SUPPS OVER THE PHONE. THE COMMISSIONS ARE TOO LOW. I FELL INTO THIS TRAP TOO, AND SANG FRANK'S PRAISES, and he was an AWESOME teacher, BUT IN THE REAL WORLD IT WILL TAKE A FEW YEARS TO REALLY START MAKING ANY MONEY. I also found other free ways to market med. supps that have helped.

You will also need to attend the classes that are offered by the various carriers to become an expert on Medicare. YOU make YOU an expert.

If I show you how any med. supps I sold in 2009, and the amount of money I made doing it, you will be shocked. I was shocked when I saw it on paper too.

I wish you well. Have an awesome career.

By the way, I love selling Medicare supplements and will do so as long as they exist.

I am working.....working on listening to my umpteenth YOUTUBE music video of the morning....

And all I do is telemarketing med-supps. via the telephone....no cold-door knocking....haven't done any in years....no advertising....no website....nothing....zilch.....

To be completely honest, I'm thinking about running an ad in the local fish-wrap next week and getting a website set up in 2010.....

Now....back to the music....

VaDwayne.....I've been in the Home Painting/Construction business for 17 years. I'm still in it and am doing well. I'm working insurance full time during the 3-4 month "off" season. Once I get my insurance business built up, I plan on turning the Painting business over to one of my supervisors. I got into to insurance because I like sales and I've got a lot of friends in the insurance business who have been succesful over the years. I was also looking for a business I could turn over to my kids once they get out of college in 20 years when I'm ready to call it quits. Insurance seems like a much better route than construction......competiting against illegals who don't pay taxes and carry any kind of insurance is getting tougher every year.

Construction business is where a good portion of the layoffs are happening.

Good luck in your insurance career. Work at it and you'll build up a good clientele.

Love the guitar ending on FM. Great song.
