I wasn't aware you could sell MS over the phone, mail and app and the client sends it in? Sounds too good to be true! I would be all ears if someone would tell me how to do that!

I've sold MoO and AARP med-supps. over the phone. A few to clients a few hundred miles from here.

I always fill out the app....mail it to them.....with a self addressed stamped envelope for them to mail it back to me so I can make a copy of everything....highlight where they need to sign and 95% of the time I've gotten it back.

I always include a personal letter and advise them to call me if any questions.....

That's exactly what's we're doing. Sweet

Rob,

Not trying to split hairs here, but you originally said you were mailing blank applications to some. You can do that with some carriers, but not all. If you are doing this with any Mutual of Omaha carriers, you run the risk of having your appointment terminated.

I came out of the construction business into insurance too. We did concrete resurfacing with epoxy grout and also did epoxy decorative finishes. You see this type of floor behind every Waffle House counter, frequently in bathrooms, in industrial kitchens, etc. $6-13/sq. ft. Great career, but spending 220 days in hotels out of a year grew old fast despite the money and wimmens.

When they live 200-300 miles away, I'm not driving there. It's a one-question app...are you on dialysis(in Florida).

That may be. I am just saying that it is a violation of AARP/United Health carrier rules so those who follow the rules can adjust themselves accordingly. I lose a lot of business to other agents in areas where I would be more competitive if I didnt follow the rules and regulations.

Show me where it says that. I looked at the Florida handbook and could find nothing on it.

And how the heck would they even know that you mailed an application to an insured? Something they do to everyone turning 65.

There is more to compliance than what is in the handbook. Call and ask them as I have done and I got a second option from them as well.

In regard to your question of "how they would know" that is a separate issue. There is always a distinction between what is compliant and what you can get away with.

I looked at....Florida handbook....Alabama handbook....Ohio handbook....I'm licensed in all 3 states. Found nothing on it. There's a list of "Do's and Don't" and nothing is mentioned about it in the "Don't" section.

I looked at my original contract just now and could find nothing on it.

I get emails almost daily from them and I 've never received anything related to not being able to mail an application.

As far as calling the PHD...I've called them on other things and would get a few different answers from different PHD reps. related to the same question.

I'm not going to worry about it.
