Exchanges Are Mistakes...not Markets

I believe this is one of the reasons why Boehner is NOT going to try and defund HHS during the upcoming continuing resolution. He sees it unraveling, and doesn't want the blame for not providing the chinese money.

100% spot-on YAgents! This is also why Sen. Paul Ryan keeps introducing and promoting agenda to defund ObamaCare. He said this week that he knows defunding Obamacare as part of his budget proposal wouldn't fly, but he wants the Republicans to go on record as the ones who warned (+30 times!) of the big ObamaCare iceberg in the path of USS America.

My friend, Allen, you are a funny guy. You should become an author! I have enjoyed your quips, and here are some of my favorites:

Leaving a "Grandfathered" plan is like giving up your current wife for a young sweetie, only to learn that she's a gold-digger babe. When you see how stupid you were and try to return to the security of your former spouse, you find that she won't let you back through the door. Hope this helps, CTG.

From now on I'll refer to today's major medical policies as LEGACY Health Insurance plans. That'll have a nice ring to it for prospecting later this year, don't cha think? http://www.insurance-forums.net/for...rum/carrier-strategy-t50441-4.html#post660494

But it's like insuring your $300,000 house with a $0 deductible policy that will pay no more than $100,000 for damage. You're fine for a tree trunk falling on the roof, but a fire, hurricane or tornado will leave you with at least a $200,000 out-of-pocket cost to rebuild. You'll save premium dollars with a limited-benefit home insurance policy, but on the back end, you're potentially screwing yourself big-time. http://www.insurance-forums.net/for...d-ushealth-advisors-t33531-15.html#post657103

Those Pilots are flying too low. The new and upcoming fees/taxes/charges will cause dem pilots to climb beyond the stratosphere. http://www.insurance-forums.net/for...-plans-2014-premiums-t39903-4.html#post662177

A window into product selection the exchanges. HSA's will reign. A look into what the private exchanges are experiencing:

Workers Choose Cheaper Health Plans When Given a Fixed Sum - WSJ.com

Now, the first results are in: Many workers were willing to choose lower-priced plans that required them to pay more out of their pockets for health care.

Aon Hewitt said that for this year, 39% of the workers chose higher-deductible plans, up from 12% in 2012, when they weren't picking from an exchange. Those choosing a preferred-provider-organization plan dropped to 47% from 70%. Overall, 42% of employees picked plans that were less rich than they'd had the previous year, while 26% picked pricier coverage.

Here's a quote I found interesting:

"When people are spending their own money, they tend to be more consumeristic,"

Oh, very good! So, when they are spending taxpayer's subsidy money, what will they do!

Allen, I'm surprised it only doubled...

And Yagents, that article is a "first year" result, correct? I'd be interested to know if people perpetually "downgrade" to the cheapest policy they can live with, or if they were stuck in a policy they never used and all saw the need to stop paying for what they don't use.

"Hey, can we get $1.5B from you?"

"No."

"That's OK, we have a rainy day fund and don't really need it anyway."

If that happened in any other situation on this planet, someone would be fired (or shot, depending on the situation). I can't believe we allow our government to do it time and time again.
