FE Mailers

I went back and re read your post, it seems many disagree with it!

Well I'm a rookie, so I don't know much of anything. I've read time and time again about you guys showing up to the door and them not remembering they filled it out. LH training so far is very much stressing that even though these are "fresh exclusive leads" your biggest challenge will be getting in the door cause they don't remember filling anything out....

:err:

EFES leads are what, $11 a pop or maybe more? I would be pretty ticked if it cost me $11 to have someone tell me they don't even remember filling anything out. Does the client really react favorably to you pointing out their signature? I would think that would put up their defense wall even more (possibly because they are embarrassed or feel like you are trying to catch them in a lie).

Personally (and again I have zero experience) I would see if it were possible to buy cheap old lead cards. Does that exist? Spend $1.00 or $1.50 and head to the house. When they give you the inevitable "I don't remember" line, just play the victim and claim the company made a mistake. But since you drove all that way...

Then segway into your pitch. I have a feeling the reaction from this client will be same whether or not you are about to trash a $1 lead card or an $11 (or higher) lead card.

You either gettin in the house or you ain't right?

Hell forget the card, just have a clipboard with her name and address on it and say she was printed on your list of interested parties to see that day. Of course I could be wrong but when it comes to getting into someone's home based on a "survey" or other sales approach isn't it more of a numbers game and not so much a quality of lead card game?

Don't some of you guys door knock on a few houses around your client's home anyway? What's the difference?

If yopu think cold calling for FE is a great idea then get to it. No one is stopping you. As for the leads being $11 at EFES, that's the best you can do. You have to do a lot of business to get to that level. They would cost $20 to $24 a lead depending on which manager and what level you started at.

You trying to chase him out of the business?

I've cold called for life and it is absolutely brutal. I made money at it, but it is just completely brutal. I can't even begin to imagine cold calling for FE. I think I'd rather go greet at Walmart.

Actually, greeting at Walmart or waiting tables at the Waffle House is probably a great way to find FE prospects.

No, but he has been given advice after advice and still comes back to that. Some lessons have to be learned, they can't be taught.

The deal for me was "one legged" appointments. Everyone told me many times to not do them. I had to learn on my own why they had told me that.

I'm not talking about cold calling, I'm talking about just straight up door knocking with no lead card in hand. Narrow the demographic down with infofree so you at least know you are knocking on the door of a senior on a fixed income (well likely anyway).

Saying that the company sent you out is a little white lie but other than that they won't remember filling out a card anyway right?

What is this thread about? Overcoming objections at the door, and this is an important topic to you guys because there is tons of opposition at the door. If high quality and expensive lead cards were worth it than why would this thread even be needed? The answer would be simple: buy better leads.

Instead it seems to me (with zero experience :) ) the true talent here is finding your way in the door. Aren't you always going to catch someone off guard? Nobody here calls FE leads before driving over and there is a reason for that. Isn't the client always going to think they were just going to mailed something? Does reminding them about the card really make a difference? Is THAT the thing that gets you in the door? I'm guessing no.

But guys I'm not trying to preach here. I'm the guinea pig remember? I'm typing all this out because in a month's time or whatever this will be really entertaining to read.

I'll start a new thread called "All the stuff I thought I knew about insurance.....cause I'm an ***" and we can all have a good laugh

....or I'm right and I'll just post about how great I am ;)

I don't know that this thread does have a need. It seemed to be just venting.

Cold doorknocking, cold calling-same thing. I don't know where you get that nobody calls their leads first. I always call and set appointments. I think most here do as well.

The only doorknocking I do is on the ones that don't put a phone number on there and I can't find one anywhere.

Some do just doorkock their leads. Still, that's not cold doorknocking. The people requested something.

There is a reason that there are not successful cold callers and cold doorkncokers posting here. They are rare as hen's teeth. In fact, I know of no successful cold callers and only of one successful cold doorknocker. And even that one started with leads until she built her practice.

I work the street three hours every morning and have for years.I'm good at it and I enjoy talking with people. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. I worked leads for years and that's okay too. LH says their leads convert 1 out of 5 and I'm inclined to believe them. That means that it will cost you 150 bucks to write an app. It takes me 25 contacts to write an app. That takes two or three hours depending on how much yakking is going on. I've tracked those figures for years and it hasn't changed and I'm confortable with the activity. Just me swingin' a kit...

LH claims 1 out of 5 leads convert to sales? But you only make like $225-$250 per sale with LH and their leads cost I think like $15-$28.

This explains massive lead debt with LH that so many warn about...
