FE Mailers

I always took the lead card with me to refresh their memory and at least so they could look at the handwriting. If they don't claim it I'll ask if one of their neighbors would have completed it - it gets a good laugh.

Receive in mail - tell them about my mother who gets insurance info in the mail and asks me to interpret the information for her. I want to be available to answer all of their questions even those you may not have thought of - this gets me in the door and starts a conversation. It helps I'm cute and amiable. Sorry guys but a woman will usually get in the door.

Do you door knock all your leads instead of trying to get an appontment?

I think the question is about appointment setting by phone and not doorknocking.

It's rare to get the "I forgot" or the "I did not send it in" if you are doorknocking. At least it is for me. Of course I rarely doorknock. If I'm doorknocking it's because they didn't put a phone number on the card and I can't find one by any other source.

I did both. If I couldn't reach them on the phone and was in the area I would stop by and knock. If I couldn't set an appointment on the phone or get through their objection, I would still stop by if I was in the area. I always tried to fill my time with seeing people one way or the other.

Acknowledge their objection and move on. Book the appointment, let them tell you at their kitchen table they don't remember sending in the card.

I typically will tell them something like, "Ya, it's probably been a few weeks sense you sent the card in. Most fill it out and send it back to because they are curious into looking in to life insurance or burial insurance. Is that something you were interested in?"

No use in lying. Just tell them why people send it in and quickly get to the point. They'll tell you if they have interest and character to let you in to do a presentation. If not, move on.

This is what I say on door-knocks or phone calls.

Bottom line is that "I don't remember sending the card in" should not end the call. Move beyond it and get into more open-ended questions or establish what their situation is.

Use a lead that isn't memorable and you will get people who won't remember filling it out...

Doesn't really make any difference. "I don't remember" is simply the first objection.

That's why after all these years and everything under the sun being mailed to prospects the $255 mailer is the standard. It's inexpensive and it gets results.

Agents that can't sell from that mailer can't sell from any other mailer either.

Blaming it on the mailers is the agent's version of "I don't remember".

Right, cause quality of lead has no difference right?
Riiight....

Its like you talking about how tough tv leads are. What you just said kinda sounded like a lead is a lead is a lead, but obviously you have standards for lead quality to not waste your time. Mailers are no different.
