Hoosier, aside from SL being overpriced, how do you overcome this? According to Legacy, they negotiate with the funeral home to meet their price. If they agree, Legacy advises the the family to accept the funeral homes casket, since it's already on site. However, if the funeral home refuses, Legacy says they guarantee shipment to the funeral home within 36 hours. I have not heard of any family preparing a funeral and burying their loved ones within 4-days after death or release from the morgue. What I neglected to ask Legacy is whether or not a SL insurance policy is a prerequisite for becoming a member.

Again, customs vary from one area to another but most funerals in this area will take place the third day after death unless there is an autopsy..

That's like you asking "I'd be interested to know what percentage of policy holders ever get anything for their $60 per month premium using xyz carrier...can you imagine how much money they make at $60 per month on the policies that lapse along the way and are not in force at death"?

Yeah, but SL makes the $60 plus the $3... And they make the $3 even if they pay a death claim and the Legacy is not used.. And, they strip the agent's commissions if they don't sell the legacy... Not a bad deal for SL....

Don't know about where you live but comparable caskets do not cost $7500 in our area at the funeral home.. They are much less than that, more in the $2500-$3500 range.. Of course you would expect them to be higher years from now..

The caskets are $1500 from Legacy. The casket + vault + monument is $3500. Actually it can total just $2750 if they pick the cheaper monument.

Trust me, legacy had rather sell the casket, vault, and monument for $3500 rather than not sell it. They make a profit at the $3500 price point.

The have collected the $3 memberships either way. Are you able to see this now?

Not sure he will be able to keep it when the price goes up... That will make it kind of expensive..
