FEX Quote Engine

SLAICO & GPM will be in the database shortly. I am still waiting on the rates for a few other companies.

Another feature we are adding is an enhanced API for web quoting on agent websites. For those agents who have the technical ability, you'll be able to fully customize the entire look and feel the FEX quote engine on your website. This API functionality will be available alongside the current web plugin at no additional cost.

What is "API functionality?"

When you say "for those agents who have the technical ability" how technical do you mean ? I've installed norvax and compulife into my website but seriously don't consider myself to have too much technical ability.

Is this program as easy as installing these others?

Thanks.

What I mean by API functionality is that we will be providing the quote results in XML format along with a sample PHP script that can present the results how you see fit. You can use the sample script or not.

If you are comfortable (or know someone who is) manipulating raw XML data via any scripting language, then this option opens the door for complete customization.

Currently the web plug-in is simple copy and paste HTML code with a few customization options. A few agents have expressed a desire for more control over the look, feel and functionality of the web plug-in.

Rather than bloat the current plug-in with more options or reinvent the wheel, we decided to offer an API.

Basically what we're saying here is this:

You can create the quote form any way you like; submit the request to our script which returns XML data. Your script formats this data to your liking.

We do run various discount promotions from time to time, but our standard trial period is 10 days. There are also 20% discount codes available from many participating IMO offices.

Earlier it was mentioned that you don't give correct quotes for RNA. Has that been fixed?

The RNA rating formula in the quote engine has been tweaked, and the accuracy is 99.99% There are a few instances where the rate may be off by a penny or two, but this is due to rounding.

Actually with some of the other carriers, you may also see a penny or two discrepancy, but this is well within our tolerance for "error".

If you really think about it, a difference of a couple of cents really makes no difference with the carriers and shouldn't with a customer either. In fact, I believe agents should never quote exact premiums.

Long before the age of internet rating and even to this day, I never quote an *exact premium*. This is more of a sales technique than anything else.

Tell me that again when you have a policy fail to go in force because one cent was missing from the premium and the person passes before it can be made good.

You are joking right? Funny.

You think if is is 1 penny off, that the company will do what?

Let me know the 1st time you find an agent that the engine cost them losing a client because it was 1 or 2 cent off.

Back in the old days, when agents use the rate book and had to do the per 1,000 thing. We had a lot of agent be off by almost 1 or 2 dollars.

Name one carrier that will fail to place a policy due to a penny or two shortage.

A few other points:

1. Most of the FE companies draft on a voided check
2. Agents should be verifying rates
3. Agents really should not be quoting exact rates.
