Final Expense Telesales | The Good & The Bad

How come all you guys who post on here who used to write FE face to face and are currently off the street marketing the product never mention or discuss why you got off the street ?

How come marketers remain coy and suspiciously silent about their transition to being an agency builder ? I'm not coy at all. Just ask JD...lol

Why did you start an agency ? To increase my income and for leverage. If I broke my leg my income would continue uninterrupted.

Did you cave in because you couldn't be away from the wife ? I was single when I started in 1999. I'm married today and am too strong to cave in.

Was she having hissy fits because she couldn't have her thumb on you ? I would never knowingly marry a woman like that...lol.

Did you crumble, cave in because you couldn't hack running FE leads face to face day in and day out ? I still sometimes run face 2 face FE leads, sometimes set appointments for face 2 face, sometimes knock on the door of the lead's neighbor, and sometimes do telesales.

Could you look down the road 10-20 years and say to yourself "I think I can do this forever,no problem ! " If my health is the same absolutely!

Easy easy, right ? FE is simple not easy.

Aside from starting an agency, how do these questions impact, effect the telesales side of selling FE ? They don't

Who's gonna melt down and wash out of the business first,a telesales agent or a field agent ? Neither . If an agent has the capital to fund their business, along with the burning desire to be successful, the work ethic, and fresh exclusive live TV transfers they can do well with either platform.

Please help me understand.

Do you think you could make the kind of living JD has made as a face to face FE agent for the past 15+ years writing with your 1 tiny company and 80% contract ?

BTW,why are you answering these questions for Dave ?

Because no one ever asks =)

I transitioned into agency building because I wanted to scale my business beyond selling one to one.

My motivation is no different than hundreds of thousands of other aspiring entrepreneurs in insurance and other industries that want to grow to higher levels.

I have zero shame in transitioning to agency building. It's the best career decision I've ever made.

Why did you start an agency ?

Excellent agencies make a lot of money. Plus, I enjoy training and coaching agents more than selling.

No, I had already failed out of the business back in 2012, and learned from my mistakes. I saw the value in building an agency and the much higher income opportunity, especially in building a brand based around helping people without any expectation in return.

Could you look down the road 10-20 years and say to yourself "I think I can do this forever,no problem ! "

When I first started, it was about transitioning to a entrepreneurial opportunity that both had long-term potential, but more importantly could pay my bills.

If I hadn't transitioned to agency building, I would have began selling Medicare in 2013 or 2014, and may have gone the YouTube route with that instead.

Most agents should sell final expense in person. It's way easier and more forgiving. Telesales is more difficult, has a bit higher cost acquisition if you're not self-generating leads, and requires a good bit of performance/acting to do well. With that said, we have agents doing it successfully and provide 1-on-1 training to every agent that joins.

The success rate in the industry is much higher for face-to-face agents versus telesales agents, for the reasons mentioned above.

Sr Life's minimum contract is 90%. Mine is higher. I'm sure I could give JD a run for his money. Could you? lol

I thought your questions were for everyone.

Noah I think you underestimate the power of recruiting. Ive calculated some of this full fmo mapd /aep shops doing 3 k aca a week and 30 k mapd a yr are in the $5-$10 million income range . Think about it . One agent doing $250 k a yr premium . The Imo is making 20% min overide . That's $50 k a yr . Your outfit does $10 mil a yr . That's $2 mil a yr not counting yrs of residual overrides. You can't scale as an Individual. You need 100's and 100's of agents under you . That takes many yrs to accomplish .

I'm not motivated by money. Whatever these guys make is their business.
I grew up in Palm Beach county. Very wealthy area. Lots of snobby assholes.

So what do you tell guys when you recruit them ? Do you tell them that face to face is the way to go and to expect to buy 20 direct mail leads each week for the next 20-30 years and then they will be able to retire comfortably ?

Or do you tell them that at some point they will be burned out and be better off building an agency, getting off the street ?

How many guys do you have in their 50's,60's,70's buying 20 FE leads a week running the cards face to face on a consistent basis ?
