For clarity, insurance companies typically pull your MVR yearly. They may miss a renewal, but usually pick things up on the second one.

Usually a surcharge for a ticket lasts 3 years from the date of conviction. They don't go 3 years from the day they surcharge you. Also, it stays on for the policy period, so it stays off till the policy renews and then comes off on the first renewal after the 3 year point.

Its usually hard to argue the amount you were speeding, but you can fight the speeding ticket.
