Flea Market

I have an agent in Virginia who, due to past financial problems, cannot attain an advance, nor has the funds (yet) to invest in a direct mail program.

On my advice, she found a local flea market, and rented a table for 7 bucks on Saturday and Sunday each week over the past summer.

All she did was put up a sign that said, "Life Insurance -- Free Quotes." No freebies, giveaways, prizes, etc.

She has averaged 1 to 2 policies weekly, generating 5-10 leads weekly.

The returns tend to diminish; I don't know if that's the seasonality effect with Summer being over, or if she needs to switch over to another flea market.

Point is that the flea market strategy does work.

I would expect leads to diminish because some of the leads may actually be other vendors.

Really doubt it.. I sat up an unmanned both for a long time (using some space in front of a booth we sued for merchandise storage. .. The leads begin to dwindle because you have the same people coming through every week.. It would be best to rotate from one market to another so that people don't get so used to seeing your booth that they don't even pay attention to it being there.

That is about what I would expect from the two weeks I but the sign up on a side booth. One to two policies a weekend and you are making more than almost every other vendor out there.

I went out this week to sell some stuff and it was raining. The guy who sells the tombstones wasn't out there so I didn't get to talk to him.
