Foresters: Are They Always this Inept?

Yes, because every other company is perfect...

I'm not defending Foresters as I really don't have any dealings with them. But plenty of companies make plenty of mistakes. If it is just one time it isn't the end of the world. At least they are asking you instead of just pending out the certificate and leaving it for you to figure out.

Every company may not be perfect but there can be a wide range between how much one can screw things up and another can do it mostly right. Anyone following this forum will have seen more then average amount of complaints about our Canadian friends at Foresters.

I would suggest the OP keep using them if he finds cases that fit no where else but only for those cases, triple check the paperwork and maybe send it to your upline for another scrub before it goes in.

I have been writing Foresters for 4 years and have never heard of that form.

And as far as them having problems paying off death claims, I haven't found that to be the case at all. In fact I have seen them pay a few claims that I expected them to deny.

Yes from time to time they do have problems but for the most part they are decent to deal with. They email every step of the way and keep you up on all pending applications, which can also be a plus.

And for the guy who claimed he replaced all those Foresters policies. I doubt it very much. I have written hundreds of policies through Foresters and don't recall ever having one replaced. Their prices are very fair, and with all the free benefits, on paper they compare very favorably to any of the others, including Americo, UHL . Aetna etc.

The exact name of the form is "Life Insurance and Annuity Replacement Certification of Sales Material Used in Connection with Application". Form# 102129 US (06/08) I am surprised you haven't heard of it. It is supposed to be used on any replacement where illustrations are used. Maybe it isn't required in your state. There is a place on the form where you are supposed to enter the certificate number. But, since you don't have the certificate number at submission, not sure how you are supposed to enter it....no, wait, you don't have to enter it...no, that isn't right either, you do have to enter it. No, need to re-fax, as it is handled on a "case by case basis". "We will grant you a one time exception since someone told you it didn't have to be entered". Can you understand my confusion now? Anyway, it was finally issued this morning.

Thanks. Excellent advice, which I definitely plan on following:)

You're right. From the supplies section of their website:

Form 102129, Producer Certification: Sales Materials used in Replacements.

For some states this form is required, in addition to 104978 US (06/08), when existing coverage is in place and replacement is intended.

:)

Assuming it is like the forms that other carriers are using with a similar name, it is a CYA form for the company. Basically you are attesting that you left a copy of all sales material during the replacement. They want to keep it from coming back on them if it goes sideways.
