Forethought Medicare Supplement Contracts

Nope.. it's the last bastion of refuge for the health insurance agent.
President Obama has stated, clearly, that he wants the government to stop supporting the private insurance companies who help seniors with Medicare Advantage. He wants everyone back on Medicare, directly - completely dependent upon the government.

Daytona_Guy,

President Obama also clearly said that "If you like your plan you can keep it". One could also believe that when he mentions he wants seniors back on Medicare and to stop supporting Private Insurance Companies he has talked about an OOP Max for Medicare...If that ever happened it would be the end of Supp sales.

Personally right now I think we still have a viable Medicare Market....A lot could depend on what happens in Nov....If the Tea Party ends up fracturing enough of the Republican vote and many Dems remain in Office Pres O might think he has a mandate once again to continue his socialist change of this country.

We all need to vote...Get those friends of yours that don't vote (we all know someone who doesn't) and get them to the polls.

If there was a OOP max why would it be the end of supp sales. Say the OOPmax was $5k. Wouldn't you still want a medigap to cover those possible cost? Of course the premium would be less but so would the risk of the insurance company, thus possibly retaining commissions

You are 100% correct. Seniors will still want something to cover that gap. That's what Med Supps do now, cover the part not paid by Medicare. Why would anyone think that seniors will not want that "gap" covered since that's currently why they take a Med Supp.

There will still be a Medicare supplement of some kind offered. Those who think that a max OOP will end Med Supps are not thinking logically. (I almost said they have their head up their ass. :D)

I have presented Plan N to seniors since this Spring and a lot of them don't want the "hassle" and inconvenience of having to deal with the copay even being as small as it is.

Does anyone who has extensive experience in the senior market really believe that seniors will accept the possibility of having to pay the first $2,000 to $5,000 of their medical expenses each year? There is no way in hell that is going to happen.

Once again, the sky is not falling.

Is this still in the Offers section?
