Gone Are The Days Of Dental Health Insurance?

Although the Assurant plan is good from a price and coverage perspective, the choice of dentists leaves a lot to be desired.

How so? Because that isn't a complaint we hear. Actually we don't get many complaints at all.

Nope, still an issue with me.

My dental insurance link.

So, you didn't read my post where I suggested you only put this part of your link on your site?

Assurant Employee Benefits Dental Enrollment Form

All I did was go through the link you just pasted, and instead pasted the link directly to the application. You can then put the plan description directly on your site.

Once again, your "issue" becomes a non-issue.

I simply used the link provided by Time, no more, no less.

Still don't like the way they handle the dental. Won't promote them.

The "how so" is that I reviwed the list of providers in my area and none of the experienced top dentists seem to appear on there. I am not a jingoist, but most of the dentists appear to be foreigners. I did not delve into their credentials or years of experience, but I would be surprised if they were not relatively new, inexperienced practitioners.

The problem with any network plan, not just DHMO, is you will not get experienced dentists to participate. A good dentist has no need, or desire, to discount their services to generate foot traffic.

In a metro area if you have much more than 15% of dentists participating in a network you are doing good. Go to the boonies and you might have to drive 50 miles to find the nearest par provider.

It is even worse for DHMO"s because the reimbursement is even lower than PPO's plus there is oversight . . . something you don't have with a discount plan.

OTOH the par providers in a DHMO are compensated on a per capita basis so they get some revenue every month whether they treat a patient or not.

The Time network, like the Humana network, is very limited. It is a good plan as long as you understand the limitations of a DHMO and delivers good value for the money.

It also lends itself (especially on the individual side) to adverse selection. Individual DHMO's are relatively new. It remains to be seen how long they will last and maintain their competitive edge.

I wonder if sbspartan is a shill for Time? Sure seems like it.
