Google Plus Becoming Yet Another Company Failure

Interesting from someone at Google who bolted:

MSDN Blogs

"As it turned out, sharing was not broken. Sharing was working fine and dandy, Google just wasn't part of it. People were sharing all around us and seemed quite happy. A user exodus from Facebook never materialized. I couldn't even get my own teenage daughter to look at Google+ twice, "social isn't a product," she told me after I gave her a demo, "social is people and the people are on Facebook." Google was the rich kid who, after having discovered he wasn't invited to the party, built his own party in retaliation. The fact that no one came to Google's party became the elephant in the room."

I've read (but not fully investigated) about the new (non) privacy policies of Google. I hear that if you are signed on to your Google account, everything you do on the your computer is cataloged and saved by them. For all I know, they have spy-cookies on your computer now that reports back to them whether you are logged on or not... especially when using their browser.

I'm not sure what Google+ is, but since I'm the only person left on the planet without a Twitter account and still alive, I don't see where I need whatever this Google service is.

I am here

There are two of us Al.. Have no idea what Google+ is. Quit using gmail with Google's new information sharing policy, don't have a Twitter Account. Do have, at the insistence of the kids and grand kids, a Facebook account.

not the only person alive. I don't have twitter either. I've got Google + only because I use Google Chrome, but I don't do anything with it. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it. I do have FB, but because I live states away from my rather large family and it's a great way to keep up with all of them. And a large group of friends I moved away from a few years ago. But Twitter? Fail to see the point of it.....

...which Facebook account has private messaging (don't need no stinkin' Gmail), status updates (like Twitter, but richer and longer), and CHAT, and picture albums, and...what's not to love?

Also heard Twitter will fall to something called Pinterest, (whatever that is...), and that Pinterest can share to Facebook - how about that?

Google loves to rattle off how many people joined. Listen, if you invite 500 people to a party, they show up, look around quickly, say "this really sucks" and leave, was your party a hit. After all, you did get 500 people to come.

Google has added a new feature to specifically get internet marketers/website owners to use plus.

You can use rich snippets to flag the author of the article/website, then link as a contributor in google plus, and it will in certain cases add the authors photo to the search results in google.

The only way to get the rich snippets photo is by linking google plus to the page via the author rich snippet anchor.

I fully expect they're going to use more tricks like this in order to make us use it, in addition to building it into chrome, building it into android, etc etc.
