I spent the last 3 months getting my new agency up and running and breaking even.
Writing myself a paycheck sounds like a nice goal for the second half of the year lol.
I'd also like to keep at least 40% of my book preferred type business. I know that doesn't sound like much, but for me it is.

Leaving the captive world next week and opening up an independent shop on July 1. My goal is to get the learning curve out of the way and set myself up for a great 2016.

Godspeed MaroonNwhite! The learning curve won't be as bad as you think. The only thing that will sting is mixing up the different UW guidelines & not being used to quoting systems so you'll inherently mess up some quotes. The grass IS greener on the indy side.

I'm just focusing on technology and efficiency but I have been scaling back work hours a lot to focus on my personal life. That part is going great and just enjoying each day with family. Already dropped 50lbs this year with some more still to go.
In the next year or two I will re-focus on professional life and be kicking more ass than ever as a result of what I'm doing now.

Thanks everyone! I don't post on the forum very often, but I've been a reader for a long time. Most of the advice on here is great, and has helped me a lot in finding out who to contact and how to contact. Starting from scratch is a little scary, but I see that the benefits far outweigh the risks.

Lose five more pounds. Spend more time w the kids in the mountains. Got he top of Mt. Evans. Ride more. Sleep less.
