Has Anybody Heard of Family Life Doing Med Sup

I agree regardless of what you are selling the prospect must be comfortable with you. Every med supp I have ever sold the senior could care less about United of Omaha. You need to make sure the prospect likes you and will trust you, get the lowest priced med supps in your area and you will do well.

I just contracted with them because of the rates here, and I needed another company for my " Quiver." I havent written anything wiht them yet. Seems like a good contract for a low cost option.

Based on this logic, all one would have to do is get a contract with the lowest priced carrier in his state and he would find success.

Seniors buying on price is only half the story. We are all forgetting the one crucial element when it comes to selling med supps.

The senior client has to buy the agent. Agents selling med supps need to learn how to sell themselves more than anything else. If they like you, trust you, AND you can save them money... Then BOOM a sale is made.

If you can save someone $100/month on their premiums for the exact same plan and they don't like you, or trust you, then you will not make a sale. Period

If you have read any of my other posts you will see that I am one of the strongest proponents of agents selling themselves. When I train an agent one of the first things I tell them is that I do not sell insurance. That I would probably be a miserable failure if all I did is try to "sell insurance".

I educate seniors about Medicare and Medicare Supplement insurance and in the process I sell ME. If they will buy me then they will also buy the used microwave in the back of my pickup.

If they won't buy me then I probably won't be able to give them a new one. They will think it is some kind of scam or it is stolen.

Did you contract through an FMO or did you contract directly with the company? Thanks for any input.

Has anyone written anything with them?
Ine the pastfew days i have faxed them 4 seperate applications and have not recieved 1 confirmation, i have had to call to confirm they were recieved (which they were).
Has not really left with with the best feeling.
Has anyone had better success with them.

I don't do a lot of med sups, but, I only use Family Life now when I do write a med sup. They have the best rates here and that 7% spousal discount is great.

They do not send out confirmations of received apps as far as I know. They have never sent me one. But, the app is always available on line to check within two days of my sending it in. I even made an error on one a couple of weeks ago and charged $20 app fee instead of $25. They issued the policy with no problems anasked me how I wanted to handle the $5 difference, charge the applicant or take it from my commission. I told them to charge me for it.

They have been a pleasure to work with for me. Again, I don't do a large volume, so, my experience may not be the norm.

Several months ago every FMO in the country contacted me about Family Life. I pointed out they weren't approved in CA. Was always told, it will be any day now.

Still waiting...

Rick

Thanks JDEASY that is good to know. I am glad you have had an easy time working with them and hopefully i will as well. As for the fax confirm it does say right on the cover sheet that they will fax a confirmation right back to you once its recieved, but if that's the only problem I have with them I can live with it.

Yeah, it does say that on mine too. I have never gotten a fax confirmation from them.
