Health Care Reform Act - Ron Paul

No way that plan is horrible - I want the FREE plan paid 100% by the GOVERNMENT - I just bought this new IPHONE Cell phone and new 20" Rims I can't afford Health Insurance - it should be FREE or I should be able to purchase it ONLY when I need it, i.e. On my way to the hospital.

The funny part is 90% of Americans are COVERED yet they want to DESTROY our system to accommodate the 10% that are primarily transitional or just flat out personally irresponsible.

I wish Ron Paul was 50, so he would have time to grow and become a serious player down the road - unfortunately the reality is at his age time is not on his side to repeat this process in 8 or 12 years.

You didn't read it. It involves a 100% tax CREDIT for all medical expenses with everyone included. That would make it completely free, government-paid, health care in exchange merely for keeping records and filing your tax returns which you had to do anyways.

Ultimately, Ron Paul would like to eliminate most if not all taxes so this would simply be a first step. Why should corporations receive a deduction for health insurance, but not individuals. A tax credit as a percentage of total taxes paid helps the middle class more than the rich.

Corporations only started offering health care to employees during WWII, when they were prohibited from increasing pay. So they started to increase benefits. Made sense at the time. Would also make sense to take a deduction, if the alternative was pay, which would also be deductible.

Personally, I don't see why corporations should take a deduction for it, nor individuals. We all suffer the same consequences if we decide not to have it. Corporations could lose employees, we could lose our assets.

BTW, I don't recall seeing as many fat (I mean OBESE!!!!) people as I did at a health care provider recently.

These are people who SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE for their health! Geez, one lady weighed at least 500 lbs! I told my daughter her butt wide ness was wider than a defensive linebacker's shoulders (with pads on them) Can you imagine? And she works for a health care company and gets her health insurance for free!

It's disgusting!

Beleive me, after my (big company) experience, I was surprised at how a company so large, with so much in assets (human and otherwise) could be so dumb. A $64 BILLION market cap and that's the best they can do????

Mr. Bill - I'm a bit lost on this....
- What does market cap have to do with anything? It's not real money, and doesn't belong to the company, it belongs to the stock holders.
- What was the best they could do?

I continue to question why companies should be required to provide health care. They should be allowed to, but they don't provide lawn care, so why health care?

It is a benefit that they use to attract employees that they want, same as salary. For any decent job, it's now almost a requirement to offer health care to individuals.

Years ago, companies ruled towns. Unions came along to help balance the influence. A town lived and died by a single company or industry. This is near as true today (still is in some more rural areas), meaning there is competition that drives companies to find employees. Benefits are one of the many ways they attract the people to continue to grow the company. Being forced to provide benefits is one of the ways they shrink the company.

I was making a joke.

I am wondering where are capitalism has truly gone with our over inflated socialistic system of big government?

FREE MARKETS RULE!!!

Oh, I was talking about their MA "training" - what a joke, I think it was a bunch of clowns running the show.

As I believe I've stated earlier, I don't believe corporations should get deductions for paying benefits, it's simply part of the job. If they want to hire great employees pay for them. We provide way too much corporate welfare. Did you look at the links? They are about corporations who don't pay taxes. At all. What a crock.

I guess I like the free market system, where if a company wants to provide benefits rather than additional salary dollars, its all the same. Either way, it benefits the employee, and should be tax deductible.

Corporate provided welfare or government provided welfare? To be honest, I prefer the corporate side, taking responsibility for their employees, if they want to. I fully support the employees right to get a different job if the corporate side decides not to.

I did glance at the links. Whoever wrote it had a point that they were trying to make, misusing some facts to get the point made, leaving out a lot of other facts. It was very well put together, and as political pieces go, I'll give them a B+. The biggest problem is they attribute the decreased payment in taxes solely to tax breaks, not the downturn in the economy at the same time, much less give any credit to the short lived downturn to the tax breaks that were provided.

Huh? You do understand Corporations never pay taxes? In fact, attempting to tax Corporations (which never really happens) only effects the individuals, do you get my thinking here? Taxation of a Corporation only affects people, as in Stock Holders, Employees and mainly the End Consumer of the Product or Service, it never affects the Corporation.
