Health Sherpa

That would be an issue for me. I don't want to have to chase the customer for a second call.

Here is the problem.. According to the latest word from HHS, Web-Brokers like Health Sherpa, E-health, Go-health, etc. are STILL not able to connect to the HHS eligibility system. That's why the services we need can't be done in "real time" yet. Not available by open-enrollment either, according to the article.

Thanks Allen. I think that's a pretty big deal during open enrollment.

"Direct enrollment" just means they never leave the web brokers website. It will still be real time with the process being:

WBE then to HC.gov for APTC then back to WBE for enrollment all in one sitting.

I think Sherpa is taking the info, then manually inserting themselves at HC.gov to get the determination...........but I could be wrong.

If it is taking 2 hours for determining eligibility that makes more work. It in theory would be outstanding but from what is being said you would have to reach the client a second time. I just did a SEP for a family of 2 in 20 minutes. Would have been less if they would have had their email open.

What am I missing? Why would you have to call a second time?

I only do in-person enrollments using my laptop/hotspot. Instant subsidy determination is a mandatory must-have. That determination allows us to pick the plan. Cost-Sharing-Reduction policies are often available too. I guess we could play a game of chess while awaiting the HHS subsidy decision.

Edit: NAH..wait a minute! You can't apply for the subsidy at Health Sherpa without applying for a plan.. Right? Screw it.

Some quick responses:

1) Our premium and subsidy estimates are within +/- 1 dollar the vast majority of the time, so you can trust your client will get the quoted result.

2) Our eligibility engine takes into account the vast majority of eligibility rules, including medicaid / CHIP qualification levels for all 50 states. You can override this for clients that have lost their medicaid / CHIP eligibility, and we will compute the right premiums / subsidies in that case too.

3) As mentioned earlier, we are constantly striving to reduce the time to confirmation. That said, we're at the point where we almost never have to follow up for a discrepancy.

4) We are working on importing exact smoker rates from all insurers directly. When exact rates are not available, we use the state's maximum smoker surcharge to give a rough estimate.

Thank you for the feedback - we are listening and will continue to improve the product for you guys.

Thanks,
Ning

If you receive a subsidy letter confirmation 2 hours after an app is submitted thru Sherpa then the Sherpa is entirely useless. Done. Next

The prices shown and applied for, are already reduced by the expected tax credit they will receive. As Ning mentioned, once the determination is finalized, it's within $1 of the reduced posted rate.

Ning, is there a "sorting" capability yet by carrier or metal level? Do the CSR plans show the reduced deductible?

Sorry, I haven't played around with the sherpa system lately
