Do you think she paid the small business owners to join her?

What's the announcement? Sounds like a rehash of the same talking points she's always used. However, after reading the article, I would now like to jab an icepick in my eye.

Announcing that they squandered taxpayer dollars for a full year to copy the Utah and Massachusetts exhange models and will be further wasting money by taking the HHS Circus on the road...

Excerpt:

"Today, we will be releasing draft proposals that set minimum requirements for Exchanges while giving states the flexibility they need to design an Exchange that works for them. These proposals build on over a year's worth of work. In developing them, we looked at the models of Utah and Massachusetts, held countless meetings with stakeholders, and consulted closely with state leaders, consumer advocates, employers and insurers. But we want to hear more, so we will be traveling across the country to gather input, and we fully expect to modify our proposals based on what we hear from the American people."

Perhaps they can come up with another stimulus plan to boost the economy. You know, like the 400,000 jobs Pelosi said would be created immediately on passage of Obamacare.

Cash for Clunkers worked really well, selling 700,000 cars in 6 weeks.

Maybe Cash for Health Insurance Clunkers will be next. Trade in your old policy for a new one and get $5,000.

HHS Unveils Much-Anticipated Health Exchange Proposed Rule
Jul 11, 2011
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced the release of proposed regulations that will govern how states are to set up and run new marketplaces where individuals and small businesses can shop for health insurance. Read the regulation and other information from HHS.

Geez, the regulation is only 244 pages!:swoon:

From what I understand, the only people who will purchase insurance from the Exchange will be:
1. Those with acute/chronic health issues, due to guaranteed insurability.
2. Those who are lower income, due to the federal subsidies that are only worthwhile for families with incomes under $50K.

All healthy and middle/upper income people will be far better off purchasing on the open-market, just like they do now.

Since only sick and lower-income Americans will be purchasing from an exchange, why in the world would ANY insurance company want to be listed on an exchange? I suppose this is the part that I don't understand. HHS would have you believe that the Exchange is going to be a literal gold-mine for insurers. Sorry, but I just don't see how this is a gold-mine.. Especially so if the Supreme Court strikes down the mandate requiring everyone to buy health insurance.

Am I interpreting this Exchange concept incorrectly?
