How Grumpy Have We Become?

I think I only get grumpy when some cocksure SOB asks a "I'm new and I really don't know what I'm doing" asking for help question, someone helps them, and then, they ignore the help.

WTFever.

And people who have been in the business for only a few months starting to train and offer contracts.

This kind of crap makes me VERY grumpy.

Rick, if Barry, who has accomplished nothing, can steal a Peace Prize for his dream, why can't a rookie snow a bunch of agents into allowing him to train them?

This is a good place to vent because insuance agents are ranked in the public mind with car sales people and lawyers, so posting here is a nice place to get stuff off your chest...which may seem like we are grumpy...but we are just venting.

Just ask Al.

I'm the "List Grump" but I think I am the OLDEST (12-01-1947) active agent (1,000+ posts) in this venue so I think I get that title by default even though there is no doubt I earn it via my ability to use the English language in not suffering the fools in this industry and trying to shed the light of reason on their antiquated, arch/neo-con social (i.e. racist, homophobic, xenophobic) philosophy (which is not really a philosophy as much as a catechism taught to them by their parents and managers to rationalize their own lack of education and subsequent failures.)

When you are the only Jewish/Krishna liberal on a board with 14,000 arch/neo-conservative insurance agents, being grumpy about your "situation" is easily justified, and I confess that it has some palliative value.

Another thing that makes me grumpy is when someone decides to show his intellect with VERY long sentences and posts as long as War & Peace.

And proving that one went to college by using as many similar words that as possible can also make me quite bad-tempered, cantankerous, crabby, cross, crotchety, disgruntled, dissatisfied, griping, grouchy, grumbling, irritable, peevish, pettish, petulant, querulous, sulky, sullen, surly, testy, or truculent.

Oh yeah, and those stupid smilies.

This forum is a wealth of information. So what if you have to cut through a little bs now and then?

If a person is not tough enough to let a little internet posting roll off their back, they will never make it in the real world of insurance anyway.

At least 3 of the 5 are more than successful by most standards, but that's not really my point. Much of what goes on here is more than a polite agree to disagree. Aside from the extremes of Al and Rick, folks like Yoda come in guns blazing with no respect for anyone, even someone as friendly and polite as Frank. I'm not beating the drum of "can't we all just get along", but it does seem like the tone of this forum is getting more and more hostile. Anyone notice the same thing or have theories why it's the case?

Very true!

But the whole country has become grumpy to some extent. The "recession" "depression" (basically all the **** that has gone down politically, economically, etc. over the past 2 or 3 years) has really had a negative effect on this country. Public sentiment about most things seems to be pretty negative these days, or it eventually becomes negative due to an obsessive press and self serving politicians.

But considering the political and economic whirlwind that has been directed at our industry over the past 2 years, grumpiness might be an understatement for some people..
