How Grumpy Have We Become?

I think I am the OLDEST (12-01-1947) active agent (1,000+ posts) in this venue

Thank my lucky stars! You are older than me, DOB 6.24.52.

I only get grumpy when someone that just got licensed thinks he knows more than me. I've been a health ins broker since 1978. I probably have underwear older than some of the agents on this forum. What some agents don't realize is that no amount of reading or schooling can prepare you for health sales. You learn by making mistakes. If you don't make mistakes, you are pushing yourself.
Sometimes my sarcasm is comes across as being grumpy.

Very true!

But the whole country has become grumpy to some extent. The "recession" "depression" (basically all the **** that has gone down politically, economically, etc. over the past 2 or 3 years) has really had a negative effect on this country. Public sentiment about most things seems to be pretty negative these days, or it eventually becomes negative due to an obsessive press and self serving politicians.

But considering the political and economic whirlwind that has been directed at our industry over the past 2 years, grumpiness might be an understatement for some people..

So your contention would be that our country has become more grumpy and the forum is responding to the climate of the nation as opposed to becoming grumpy as a result of the culture of the forum? That's an interesting theory.

I'm the "List Grump" but I think I am the OLDEST (12-01-1947) active agent (1,000+ posts) in this venue so I think I get that title by default ....

Wrong again, Al. I am older than you by 4 1/2 years, and I have a right to be grumpier than you just because I didn't finish graduate school.

Well, my REAL birth certificate is filed where Obama's is and in truth I'm really 70 years old but I look so much younger.

I don't start out on this forum trying to be mean to anybody, but sometimes, things just trigger it. Things like..

the people who come into this industry so very deeply in debt they don't have a chance in hell of making it and are gone in a few months. They come in here thinking this is the easiest profession on earth and they will make great bank. Hey, there's a reason you're in deep debt and had a bankruptcy or two. It isn't usually the job that creates the problem.

The obvious sharks in the water. The guys who use this forum as a means to suck people into less then helpful business situations. They feed on newbies and churn and burn em. Known that type for the 20+ years in the business, never liked em.

And finally the simple questions that should have been part of licensing studies and/or continuing ed. Part of the process of become a lifetime agent is taking time to read about many different things in our business. Taking part of a forum is NOT that time. You guys end up speaking without knowing far too much. Your not learning by just coming here and throwing in your two bits.

Come here after you'd read something and then ask a question. I think some get blasted because it's so apparent you haven't committed time to this business to learn it because the question is so simple, it's stupid. There's a difference between a insured coming here and asking a simple question, It's alot different to see it from an "agent".

Sorry about the rant, but football is boring this morning.
