I Need an New FMO for 5 Star Life

Question: I had a 5 star app approved graded (submitted preferred) because of section 2 question 5 d. The one about depression, drugs, alcohol, bipolar and schizo.

This was a replacement so graded is a no go. If it was a depression issue, would Americo be a good choice in this case?

But would Americo be difficult about the recent app submitted to 5 star?

No more or less difficult than they are everyday.

How did you get a 5-star app downgraded?

Well it was question 5d on section 2. Depression, bipolar, shcizo, drugs and alcohol question.

I totally asked her about that. When I went by today, she was almost in tears that they rated her for her depression. She was like, "don't they know that this will just make me more depressed?"

Guess I need to spend a little more time on that question in the future.:twitchy:

Take a look at Settlers Silver plan. Now it does ask about alcohol and prescription drug abuse but not bipolar and depression.

Oh I got plenty of carriers where depressions not a problem. Just didnt spend enough time on the question with the client. I would have put her somewhere else initially.

Actually she's on methadone and morphine for pain for her fibromyalgia. I didn't want to deal with a script check.

Just an FYI, Just got $40k GUL issued much like this rated with Sagicor. Non med. Immediate coverage.

Somewhere in a post not too long ago, Newby warned us about not using 5Star with anyone on depression meds at all... That's their krytonite!

I primarily write life but also do quite a bit of annuity business...I am always amazed at the flexibility on the life side and yet how hard the annuity carriers make our lives.

I'm sure that it comes down to the regs but still.....

I know right....I especially love it when I miss a question one 1 form and the exact question is asked elsewhere no they won't let you fix it you need to go back and get it initialed by the client...It's not like we are submitting 40 plus pages between the app transfer forms statement for existing product suitability forms replacement forms maybe a letter of instruction from the client etc.

There is no reason to put people treated for depression with 5-Star. They rate them as graded. If depression is someone's main health issue and they are over age 50, I always look at Monumental as the company to put them with. Monumental will give them Prefered rates even if they are bi-polar, or other major mental health issues.

Royal Neighbors, Americo, Settlers Silver, and others are good for mental issues as well.

Well I've put a ton of people with 5star that have been on depression meds for more than 3 years, per the agent guide.

After talking with the client, I think I know how to ask the question now.

After reading the question and finding out if they've been taking the meds longer than 3 years ill ask, "So in the past 3 years has the doctor talked to you about depression at any of your appointments?"

That's the issue I think. If the doc talked to them about it, somehow it ended up on the MIB. You live and you learn.
