If ACA is Repealed how Much Would You Save?

I didn't have insurance before Obamacare. I couldn't afford it. I have diabetes and insurance companies hate people like me. We cost too much. We have to go to the doctors every 3 months. We spend a lot on Rx's. I had low paying jobs so I couldn't afford anything. I qualified for a sizable subsidy, now both my husband (both 38 years old) and I have insurance. Our monthly premium is next to nothing, literally. That is the upside. The downside is I still can't afford it. I can't afford the deductible, I can't afford to pay the OOP. On the bronze plan which is what I can afford monthly the deductibles SUCK! (I hope I can use that kind of language). I am torn as to whether I am thankful for the ACA or hating it. I am thankful I don't have to pay that stupid penalty. I am hating because I still can't go to the doctor.

So how much would I save?
Small point to make, but your premium isn't next to nothing. Thanks to those that aren't in low wage jobs and pay the majority of taxes, you don't pay much for your less than adequate insurance, we cover it for you. So there are millions like you in this country getting 'next to nothing' premiums that you can't afford to use because you sign up for the 'cheapest' plan available. This is very common for those that use HC.gov on their own, call the HC.gov call center or use 'navigators' to sign up for health insurance. In this instance, you truly do get what you pay for.

SKennon, it sounds like if you are on a Bronze plan you make too little to qualify for the Silver Plan. If you are an agent (and you refer to low paying jobs) use fewer deductions so you can show more income as a self-employed agent. If not, you need for an agent to help you; evidently, you are not understanding that with the Silver plan the out of pocket is also subsidized.

Ms. Kennon, if you call the Marketplace and tell them that you were improperly enrolled in the wrong plan, you'll qualify for a Special Enrollment. Then, go and enroll in a Silver policy. You'll have a doctor's visit Co-Pay, low premium, and low out-of-pocket, assuming your projected 2015 family income is in the correct range for CSR eligibility.

Since you've been a health insurance agent since Spring of 2013, I'm sure you understand the advice you're receiving in this thread. I hope you take advantage of it. Please report back to let us know how this turns out for you. Good luck!

p.s. Repeal of the ACA/ObamaCare won't happen this year. The public is confusing the Supreme Court's decision on Subsidies with outright repeal of the law. The SCOTUS is not deciding repeal.

Does that include situations where the policyholder is also the AOR?

"Miss Navigator, I didn't understand what I was doing and gave myself bad advice".

Can this person also make an E&O claim against themselves?

SCOTUS is not deciding repeal.

But what if the subsidies are outlawed? Seems like an opportunity for Congress to present POTUS with a fix (and maybe a few other goodies) that he might have to sign if he wants to save the law named after him.

Quick question.

Who was the captain of the Titanic?

You probably don't know without Googling it.

But you probably do know what Charles Ponzi is known for.
