If I Had It All to Do Over Again?

Chumps,
How do you recommend finding a successful agent for those that are Indi and work from home, and especially anyone who wants to be bothered with helping a new agent. What would be in it for them?
Thanks for your advice.:)

Why would anyone ask those questions in a thread titled "If I had it all to do over again"?

Would it not be more logical to start a thread asking for help? Even a thread titled "Save Me" or "Ready to Jump" would make more sense.

:goofy:For all of you seasoned vets of this buisness I a claims adjuster looking for a career change. Does anyone have any advice for a newby???? I have already heard from (NAA) and that doesn't sound real good and few others I won't mention.
I know that someone out there has some decent advice.

Thanks.

If you are currently a good saleman, then it's simply all about math:
C
P
S

Contacts - How many do I need to contact
Presentation - avg number of contacts that lead to present.
Sales - how many presentations resulted in sales

* 1 avg health sale, $280 month, 20% c
add $30 month life ins, 80% c Total in hand 1 sale = $960
3 sales a week = $2880
X 49 weeks = $141, 120
minus 30% lapse, decline, cancellation = $98,784 annual

B2B Calls:

* 200 dials "32 per hr", 6hrs, 2 apmts per hr-12 apmts.
2 will not happen
10 "FULL" presentations weekly on average 5-6 sales (50%)
10 referrals per week = 3 apmts more each week

The actual sales figures are drastically increased when you are licensed and trained to sell 2-4 products, ask for referrals each time, greet and meet 40 small business owners each week.

We spend 2 hrs per day on the phones, 4 hrs in the field per day, mon-thur.

CONTACT MORE - SALE MORE IT'S MATH

Contact me if you would like the weekly model

good luck

I have this friend who ...

Frank if you are referring to my question? I asked on this thread because that is where I read it. Chumps made the statement and I thought I could ask them since they were giving the advice. I have read this advice on the forum many times but I am not sure how you handle this if you do not work in an office with other agents? Call a captive co and ask to speak with there top salesman?
I already know who the top dog is for medicare supps, do you? LOL!

It is very unlikely that you are going to be able to simply call a company and have their "top dog" be willing to teach you how to hunt. Insurance agents, especially successful ones, in general are not willing to nor spend the time to prepare documents and offer OJT. (I've had agents call me while with a prospect.)

That advice, find a mentor, is given too freely on here without any concrete suggestions as to either where to go or who to go to. I started doing it with Med Supps because I know that there is no place I can suggest for an agent to go and no one I can suggest they talk to who will be willing to train them.

I learned how to do it by spending years of making mistakes, learning from them and pissing away way too much money.

Everyone who wants to be a L&H insurance agent should know that once licensed and contracted they are pretty much on their own.

I titled it that because that is a question I have heard too many times from people. "What I would doif I had it to do all over again" I didn't mean to offend anyone with the question. I was looking for the experienced and seasoned agents who have already paved the way to throw out some suggestions. I'm sure that I am not the only new person who is looking for information and I definetly do not want to reinvent the wheel or make the mistakes that others have made if I can help it.

I by no means was offended if that is what you were referring to. That is why this is a less than desirable way to communicate with people It is also why I still prefer to use the telephone.

I feel for you and the others who at least would like some kind of direction to the starting line other than "find a mentor". It is easy to say and so difficult to do.

When I first started that is what I was told. All I heard from other agents were things that sounded great but in reality they themselves were not doing them.

The people on this board are some of the most professional and successful agents I have had to pleasure to "talk" to. There is a tremendous wealth of knowledge. However, they are most valuable and more than willing to help when agents ask specific questions as opposed to questions that are general in nature.

It would be like an agent who wants to get into the senior market posting a question like, "tell me everything I need to know about the senior market". I wouldn't know where to start.

I'm sorry if my post didn't come across like that. Just another flaw in my character.:twitchy:
