If CSI had a financial issue could the policy holders rely on the assets of Berkshire Hathaway...? Didn't think so....... CSI is a stand alone entity just like every other ins co that BH owns. (GEICO, General Re, Guard Ins, United States Liability). BH used to own Fireman's Fund, about the 10th largest p&c company but last time I heard about them they are in a turn around situation.... not sure when their issues started or exactly when BH sold them to Alianz... but ownership and mgmt of these ins cos do chg... and they are stand alone entities.
