How can it be a "distraction tactic" when Democrats have made Trump's mention of Biden in a phone call the basis for impeachment. Trump's position, he was carrying out his duty to see that corruption was being addressed. The Democrat response, not about corruption, it's about meddling in the 2020 election. Which is it? If you investigate the one, you have to investigate the other.

I'm glad you asked. It is a wide range of economic and social ideas, some of which have been horribly unsuccessful in practice and some which have been a great boon for general populaces. It is usually characterized by social ownership. The concept of a global economy with the level of technology we have now is fairly new. so we have a lot of trial and error ahead of us. There are shortcomings in socialism, capitalism and everything in between. Our understanding of the best ways to implement these systems have come a long way since their inception, so to completely denounce one set of ideas while going all in on another is selling one's self short. Look, I understand a totally free market system, Laissez Faire-style paints a wonderful, utopian picture. But that's not what we have in this country. Being open to certain socialist ideas that might benefit the working poor instead of the captains of industry isn't going to landslide the country into Communism.
