Insurance Agent Websites

that sounds pretty good. About how much would a national release cost? I looked at the site for a second, but didn't see any costs anywhere, so I left to do something else, and forgot about it.

They sent me an email with the pricing. For a national distribution it's $460 for a 400-word release and $150 for each 100 additional words.

To do it for a state is $145 + $40 for each additional 100 words (except CA which is $185).

It seemed reasonable to me. If you email them, they should be able to send you the same package they sent me. Here's the contact for the girl I spoke to:

A few thoughts from my experience with SEO.

Don't be discouraged if your rankings are lower now than a few years ago. This is because Google and the others have tightened up their scoring. If a site had a 6 four years ago, I guarantee it is now a 4, all things being equal.

By far the highest weighted link coming in is virtually any link with an "edu" extension. If you have any way to get a local college to link to your site (maybe call in a favor) it will do more for you than 50 links from elsewhere.

I started to do press releases to boost SEO after reading a very good sales book on the topic. The author had two services he especially liked. I looked into them and agreed at the time that they seemed very good. I'll have to get back on that as soon as I find the book again.

I think I will hold off about a week or so for the press release as I will be launching a new product then. I think a good press release will be a great way to get the word out.

Hm...good idea. How would you go about getting a university to link to you...

Take the time to write a very careful and well-done press release. It should not come across as any thing like sales materials. If it comes across as a sales promotion, it will not be picked up anywhere.

If it is an interesting and good press release, there is a chance it might get repeated as a source with an important publication and then repeated many times not from your press release directly, but from a major source that links your press release.

In the book I mentioned above, the author's experience was that if that happens, you build up credibility in the field you discuss in your press release. His press releases have led to him being asked to be a speaker and he has appeared on talk shows.

So, bottom line, it is somewhat expensive to do a good press release and you want to get as much mileage as possible.

Also, it can take several weeks or even months to see any results. If I remeber correcty, the book is titled Selling Sucks.

Why not just use: agentquote.com? It is about $500 /year. I have tried the trial they provide, (have not subscribed). The site is easy to customize. Because it uses frames, you can embed carrier web sites directly in the site.

I thought frames were bad for SEO. Aren't they?
