I've been on the phone for 3 months

I've been telemarketing the T65 lists and other lists since January and I've come to a few conclusions (at least in my area of Michigan).
1. Most people are pretty pleasant, if annoyed. (can't blame them, really)
2. As a rule, the appointments that I get are the lower end of the financial spectrum. MA $0 premium plans galore. I don't mind these, but the possibility of cross sales goes right out the window. I'm new so I can't tell you that persistancy sp? is going to be a problem but human nature tells that it probably will.
3. If telemarketing leads get the lower spectrum of income earners, what type of cold calling will reach the middle and upper? Probably becoming members of rotary clubs, and service organizations?

Just some wandering thoughts meant to stir the pot a little.

The issue you have is that the people not on the DNC list tend to be less educated and lower income (my guess only). Therefore these are the only people you will reach.

I don't call T65 for that reason and because everybody and their brother is calling the same people. To be successful, you must be different.

Why not spend the same time visiting doctors and offer your help to those who have problem with their MA plan - especially SNP qualified patients.

Rick

While cold telemarketing works (like everything if you do enough of it) it does generate poor, low quality prospects.

Ask yourself this...

When was the last time you bought anything from someone who cold-called you?

The true measure of success is how much money you made during your 3 month phone blitz... At the end of the day this is what it is all about!

Hi. I actually do a lot of those calls, I've been on it for about 2 years, and I've learned with time is all about the approach you have with the costumer. In a way you gotta make them think you're not just selling, but also helping from the moment they get they're Medicare cards into all the process... Which plan is best, why, what can they get with it according to their needs, locate the doctor.

Seniors turning 65 are new in all this, they need help and guidance and unfortunately for us, all they hear on the news is how seniors are scammed all the time by telemarketers and agents. So my advice to you: be patient on the phone, be even 200% more polite than usual and be really clear, they're not that old, but they still like everything to be explained.

Another tip? try not only Americans. Latins, Asian and else are the first generation to get Medicare, so they're even more lost and need more help than others. They're a great target, as well as you'll have the feeling you're truly helping someone. (and they give even more referrals!)

Good luck and let me know if I can help you at all.

Then what do you suggest??

Then what do you suggest??

Here's an idea... what if you were able to call only the age and income bracket using a DNC filtered list, do you think that would improve your ROI when telemarketing your services?

If you think it would, call me to use my expertise to pull data for you with whatever criteria you desire. I can run counts on any type of data so you can see how many records are available for the area and filters you want.

Suggestion: If you use me for your data needs or any other company, think of your "Ideal Customer" and build a data list using that criteria. Beats calling prospects with no money.

I like the idea of using a (very) targeted list. Sure seems to make the dialing more effective.

Has anyone had success with or even tried using an offshore company to dial for appointments in the senior market? I'm now researching the huge phone industry in the Phillipines due to the fact that English is (nearly) their second language and they're used our culture. Supposedly 98% of filipino's speak fluent English and those that are working in the phone sector are highly educated and speak with a barely detectable accent.

I've read where you can have a full-time staff member dedicated to YOUR business for 40 hours a week for about $325. I'm thinking that, since mailing 1,000 lead mailers costs right now about $350 and you're not guaranteed to make anything - maybe pull 1% or 1.5%...that having someone call into this targeted market for 40 hours in a week would have to generate more results than the 10-15 leads you could get through a mailing.

Any thoughts???
