I was going to knock on some doors today simply because its a beautiful day and I need the excercise. I figure I might as well get paid to exercise. I have made up a flyer to leave if nobodys home, but I would like to hear how some of you would start a conversation when someone comes to the door.

When my daughter was a Girl Scout some years back, she used to say,
"Hi, would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?"

As a youngster in California with a paper-route, I used to say, "Hi, would you like to subscribe to the Oakland Tribune for thirteen weeks so I can win a trip to Disneyland?"

Take your pick.

Moonlight you are too much........LOL.

When door knocking the best thing to do is to just introduce yourself and tell them what you do. Then depending on how the conversation is going you can either:

1. Tell them "If you would ever like a second opinion; please think of me."

2. When would be a good time to drop off that information to the both of you?

If you end up saying line 1; you will probably never him from them............LOL.

I would also purchase a list of DNC's as I have found these people to be more friendly; as they have not been harassed. I hope this helps.......

Girl Scout cookies aren't a tough sale. If only insurance were that easy, we would all be millionaires.

Nah, cause we could only sell it for a limited time once per year....and besides that...some of us would look funny in those uniforms! (InsuranceExec might look mighty cute though) :twitchy:

If you sell Medicare Supplements say, "I'm _____ with _________ , we are in the Medicare Supplement insurance business" (say Medicare slowly). Then ask, "May I come in?" And act like you want to "come in."

Don't say that to a 12 year old :)

A couple years ago I spent about a month knocking on doors till I threw my back out getting in and out of the car . I canvased small town and rural areas 4-5 hours a day 4 days a week. I averaged about $ 1,300 a week peddling Med supps and final expense plans. It was a enjoyable change of pace. I'm actually looking foreward to getting out next week and pound the payment again.

I am looking forward to getting out and working too. I can honestly say that I have never had an insurance agent knock on my door and ask to speak to me. I will be 45 next month.
I just keep thinking that it's got to be easier to talk to seniors if they can see you and you make a good first impression.

I purchased a list of people in my area between 65 and 80 that I purchased to cold call them on the phone. Tonight I made a list of 30 who live nearby each other, to visit tomorrow.I hope I run into some people of all ages with families. I have a flyer made up to give and introduce myself, or leave with them if the are not home.

I know 3 important things(of course I will let on like I just happened by)

1. Their names
2. their ages
3. their income level
