Knocking on Doors, What to Say?

I'm kinda interested in hearing what people have to say on this as well. But in a serious tone. I have been walking neighborhoods since I am brand new and have had one call back. I just don't feel like Im getting the right point across or something

What are you selling? What are you saying when you get people to the door?

Does anyone have a life insurance flyer I can edit and use? I want to start a door to door campaign on Monday but I don't really have an outline of what to say to people when they answer, or something to leave with them. Any help is appreciated.

Hello, my name is Frank Stastny. I am the new agent assigned to this area and will be available to help those who are having difficulty understanding the best insurance options available for them.

I usually work by appointment only but had a cancellation and wanted to stop by to introduce myself to you. Are you happy with your current agent and do you feel that he is acting in your best interest or do you think he is more concerned about his commission?

I have about 15 minutes before my next appointment and I would be happy to take a look at your current policy and give you my professional evaluation. Of course, there is no obligation on your part. May I come in?

A lot of agents who I have trained initially have difficulty understanding that the way one says things can be equally if not more important than what they say. It has to be sincere, believable and conversational in nature. It CANNOT sound like something you have memorized. It has to come from the heart and be out of genuine concern.

You are not there to "sell them something". You are there to educate them and help them make well informed, intelligent decisions. Presented properly the prospect makes the decision to purchase as opposed to the agent "making a sale".

I have knocked on a lot of doors and something to that effect has worked well for me. As Al would say, YMMV. (Your Mileage May Varry)

When I go B2B I sometimes will pass this one out. But I'm not sure it is any better than just leaving a card.

I think it is better to GET information than to GIVE information. Thus, I pick up cards and email or fax or snail mail a letter and follow up later.

I've gone house to house (H2H) but only to leave this sheet at the door. I don't think I've ever gotten a call-back from a homeowner so perhaps it is not the thing you want to use in that genre.
