Last Night's Debate

OK, I am sure many of us watched last night's debate. Who do you think improved their position in the race and who do you think did not? Also, it appears they all unanimously are committed to getting rid of Obamacare, but who has the best idea of how to do that.

My take is the only one that really hurt himself in the race was Perry. He just does not look and act Presidential to me. It think he bungled the immigration issue and he just does not come off as very intelligent. I think Romney had a good night, even though he still worries me that he will not make strong enough changes to get us back on track. Romney still could be "Obama Lite." Johnson was great, especially the "shovel ready jobs" comment, but he is not electable. Bachman had a good night, but weak in foreign policy.

I still like Gingrich and so did a number of them on the stage as he was the one named most for VP on the last question of the night. I think most up there would conced that he has the most knowledge. I look forward to looking at his new "Contract with America" next week. Santorum is well spoken and smart. At this point, I'd vote for him or Gingrich and feel like they could beat Obama and get us on the right path.

By election day, I think my dog will be able to beat Obama.

I like Herman Cain. He seems to be the only candidate who has ideas for the economy and what I like most is that he's not a career politician. He seems to understand how business works. I know he has little chance but maybe he can be a VP candidate.

You did a great job recapping last night. I walked away with similar feelings on all candidates, and I can't seem to like this Perry character. He can't finish a sentence without a pause. He must have gone to the same school as Peeler ;)

Obama would out debate him, practiced or not.

We need somebody who will UNITE this country again. Someone who motivates us all. Yes, a real cheerleader with a business background would be a great combo. I see Newt and Romney as having both of these qualities.

If our new prez can actually grant a waiver to all states from Obamacare, we'll be back in business in 1 yr

I haven't watched it yet I recorded it. But I saw about 5 minutes.

Who was the guy that said "My neighbor's dogs have created more shovel ready jobs than this president." I didn't recognize him but that was a Classic line.

That was Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico I believe. That was classic.

I saw a stat the other day on how much each "shovel ready job" cost us in the last "stimulus" handout and I think it was somewhere around $10 million per.

Gary Johnson, ex gov of New mexico said that.

Cain is good, but cannot win. He is all generalizations, no specifics (except his 999 plan). All he says is "we need to identify the problem and we need to fix the problem". well, no sh*! Plus, last time I checked, running a pizza joint isn't that difficult.......dough, check......sauce, check.....cheese/oven...check.....delivery driver...next door in the bar.

Well I wouldn't say he was behind the counter making pizzas - he was CEO and ran all their stores, and made them profitable again when they were losing money. He also did the same for Burger King in the Phillie area, where he managed 400 stores.

He also was the primary reason Clinton's health care plan failed in 1993-4. So if all you health ins agents out there want to scuttle Obamacare, Cain's your guy. He has experience in that arena. I also think he's the one candidate who DOESN"T talk in generalizations. His 999 plan is the only concrete idea I've heard out of any candidate.

I'm posting more info on Cain's role in scuttling Clinton's health care plan. Unfortunately it's not getting much play. I reluctantly have to agree that he has little chance. I'm surprised though because the polls have been indicating we don't want politics as usual - but that's all we're getting in Romney and Perry.

The Clintons would later blame "Harry and Louise," the fictional couple in the ads aired by the insurance industry, for undermining health reform. But the real saboteurs are named Herman and John. Herman Cain is the president of Godfather's Pizza and president-elect of the National Restaurant Association. An articulate black entrepreneur, Cain transformed the debate when he challenged Clinton at a town meeting in Kansas City, Mo., last April. Cain asked the president what he was supposed to say to the workers he would have to lay off because of the cost of the "employer mandate." Clinton responded that there would be plenty of subsidies for small businessmen, but Cain persisted. "Quite honestly, your calculation is inaccurate," he told the president. "In the competitive marketplace it simply doesn't work that way."[15]

I like Cain-so far,but I am not sure people are ready for another black president;regardless how good he would be.
Anyone of them in the debate would be better then what we got now ;even that guy's dog.

Whoever it ends up being needs to be pretty persuasive to get Robert Barney off the Obama bandwagon.

Even the shovel would be better.
