Magnetic Business Cards

So is this a magnet that you attached to your business card or a magnetic card, the flexible kind?

You can buy either kind. I used to buy the magnets and custom print the card with an Avery business card kit.

Something like:
Betty A Jones'
Insurance Man is Wino B Blues
Phone number etc....
Maybe her policy number on it.

In big clear type

Sometimes I would add 911 and the fire department, or her Doctors name.

I had more calls from little old ladys wanting their own card.

Heck, worked so well I quit doing it.

I have used both, but the type with the adhesive is much cheaper but it is also more work. It is sometimes a challenge to get them to align correctly, and if you don't, once they're down on the magnet, that is where they are going to stay.

I really like the ones that I ordered from Vista Print, because they are glossy and look more professional, but they can get very expensive. I usually give those to the sold customers and use the other type for mailings, thank you cards, etc.

I can go into many businesses here in town and see my P&C magnet on cash registers, doors, etc., and sometimes I will see my old card from time in the car business. They really do work and don't cost much of anything. If you use the ahesive kind, you can save money on the card stock because you don't need the thick, professional, stock. I can send you an example of mine if you would like. The Vista Print type and the self-made kind.

Now THAT"S a good idea Wino. There's not reason not to custom make them after they buy a policy. My guess is they're less likely to throw it away if it has their name and policy number on it.

Yeah, I have had some ladies call me in a panic that the card got lost. I will remake a new one, take it to their home and put it on the fridge. Crazy what people will value. Sometimes I am rewarded with coffee and cookies. I like cookies. Sometimes it is an annuity. I like annuities more.

I have had several sons or daughters call me from them, to ask if there was a policy, because Mom had died.

Annuities = many cookies. I know I would be less likely to throw it away if it had my name and policy info on it.

I agree. Wino is "the man" of the hour!

I've been putting my business cards on a magnets for almost as long as I have been selling insurance. I have never though of individualizing them for a new client.

I think the most important part of what he said is, "Heck, worked so well I quit doing it."

That tells me it is an awesome idea. I'm certain we all could probably make a similar list of great things that have worked so well for us that we also stopped doing them.:laugh::laugh:

That would be a great title for a new thread. "Things I have stopped doing to help me fail."
