Mailing list

I posted this question in the direct mail forum but did not get any responses so Im gonna try it here.

I live in an area with a small population. When I look at lead list in my area for ages 50-74 I only get 4600 addresses. I want to work part time in final expense for now and am shooting to get 20 leads a month. Will 4600 addresses hold up long term if I do my own mail drops? Also, once I mail to all of these, would I just send another mailer to these same people?

That is basically 4 and half drops of 1,000 each. Assuming a 1% return rate, you would need to do two drops a month to get 20 leads. So basically 2 and a half months worth of data. I would say marginal depending upon what the actual return rate is.

You'll probably need another area to rotate between to be able to safely get 20 leads per month indefinitely.

so what is a good number to look for when it comes to a mailing list that will sustain the 20 leads a month? should I expand my area until I have 20,000 addresses, 40,000, etc

Keep expanding until you don't have anyone to talk to. But, until you mail - you won't have anyone to talk to.

do you drop the same exact mail piece when you work through the list and start the rotation over or is there a follow up type of mail piece that you use?

Also should I expand the ages in my list criteria? Or should I include an income filter of $0 - $50,000?

Most agents pick a card and stick with it. Seems the E-64 (take a look at it on LeadConnections.com) is what most agents go with.

You should definitely go down to $0 for FE Clients, but going to $40K should be enough on the higher end.

Secondly, doing a drop all the way down to age 50, I wouldn't recommend. I wouldn't go lower than age 60 or so. Maybe push it down to 58. I wouldn't really go higher than age 78 either.
