A neighborhood friend and I caught an alleycat (for a few seconds) in an old lettuce crate trap. It might have been similar to a small bobcat!
It's funny how childhood memories tend to stick with you like that.
Pretty sure it has something to do with those fangs and claws.
Like squirrels. Definitely remember the squirrels.

I think I had the idea I could get a free pet cat.
I was disabused of that idea pretty quickly, so we just let go of the ropes holding the lid down. I can't remember its color, but I seem to remember an arched back and a lot of hissing and spitting as it exploded out of the crate!
(That saved me from conflict with my mother over a pet cat.)
