I think the opposite, but it is likely region specific.
In my area, Plan K is not much more than HDF ($15-20), so getting "50%" of co insurance covered (in general) is better than 0 until you meet the deductible.
They both pay the agent about the same, since uhc goes all cheap on Comp on K.
I've only sold a few, and it's normally after someone wants something like HDF and I show them this alternative.

So it's better to have 50% coverage of the 20% share of cost with an out of pocket limit of $4,940 instead of $2,180? So if someone is hospitalized I'm sure they will like paying more than twice the out of pocket with another $300 in premium?
I strongly suggest taking Econ 101.

It's going to take me lot longer to spend my OOP, since the carrier is picking up 50% of the tab...
In a bad year - you win. Most years, I'll win.
"What is best" at any given time is situational.
Take a 82f today. On MAPD and moving out of area. Once settled she will have knee replacement. Take a known loss like that and the GI opportunity it makes a medigap look appealing.
With prices like:
$252 plan F.
$249 plan C.
$147 plan L
It is hard to not see the possibility of taking a plan L with its 75% payment schedule as better than MAPD and more cost effective than plan C/F at such higher premiums. She will most likely move back to MAPD in the middle of the year using SPAP as a SEP.
She can't take L if she's GI though, and with upcoming knee surgery she couldn't go underwritten so c or f would be her only option above....
Definitely but if they are cheap and can only qualify with UHC then there would be your reasoning to sell K.

Best rates on GI and I will not write a GI app
F - $148 (USAA) then Companion @ $156
K - $67 (UHC/AARP)
L - $118 (UHC/AARP)
If he can qualify medically
G - $130 OIC
N - $96 (USAA) then Aetna @ $110
