When someone turns 65 and has their 6 month window to enroll in a supplement without any underwriting, do they only get ONE chance to do this, or are they allowed to switch to another supplement plan without underwriting as long as its in the initial 6 month window?
Not to pick knits, but it is a 7 month window. Three months prior to the month of their birth, the month of their birth, and three months after the month of their birth. But, you did receive the correct answer to your question. Just wanted to provide some additional information on what could possibly be a question in the same vein.
You're mixing up MAPD and PDP with Med Supp.
There is a 6 month window for a Med Supp for those new to Medicare.
The 7 month period you outlined is for MAPD and PDP and is the IEP/ICEP.

So is it 6 months prior to t65? Just a dumb fe agent learning lol
Thanks sman, appreciate itIf the carrier will take an app 6 months prior, then yes. But the rule is they have six months from the time they enroll in Medicare to get a Med Supp without having to answer health questions (this is known as open enrollment for Med Supps).
Of course, apps can be taken prior to Medicare starting, but coverage doesn't begin until the Medicare start date (or after if they elect a different effective date).
