MGA's Misleading Their Agents?

Are the days of a writing business through a Cga and them taking half over? How do Ma, Ga, Cga fit into the picture post 2014? I thought I read somewhere an article that said that model would no longer be used, but that is the only way to write Florida blue.

Well, who really knows? I gave my boss everything to print out to take to the council meeting next week. He was kind of upset because BC has been telling all the MGA's a little different well at least him. They have been saying that we can sell BC only thru the FFE, but all indications point to this not being true. Have to wait and see. I heard that the BCBS association and some others have been lobbying to keep exclusive.

I understand, too vested to jump

Well not really, remember I am captive and never received a renewal on under or over 65 in 16 years. I know, don't even say it. Any of the ancillary I've written is 1099 thru another company so wouldn't loose it. Lost most of my groups thru the recession but I would still get renewals for the one's on the books.

The MGAs, GAs or whatever will tell you what you want to hear. Just like the carriers.

BTW, what would keep a MGA or GA from taking your clients away from you? Or setting up shop as a competitor to the agent?

MGAs and GAs have the systems and connections to work with the Exchanges and Carriers directly. Even though there are rules about who can do what, that doesn't mean that it can't be changed. Don't think for a moment that the MGA or GA will just go away without a fight.
