Monumental and Their Univita PHI

Re: Monumental and Their Ridiculous Univita PHI

I'm fairly new to the FE business and use Monumental almost exclusively....yeah I know dumb me! I agree with many of the previous posts as to their convaluted way of doing business. Seem to make it difficult to work with them.

My real issue with them are the people ypu have to deal with on the phone. Most of them think they're doing you a favor. Yesterday I told a person in new business underwriting to "stop giving me you're lousy attitude! I'm only trying to take care of the issue. I need your help, NOT your attitude!" It did seem to help. Well, it made me feel better.
Monumental could use some people skills.

I run into COPD frequently even in our healthy state and have had my share of oxygen users.

Today ran into my first drunk at 1:00 in the afternoon. Don't know when he started maybe after 11? Anyway Jack and beer what a combination. If he had any money at all, would have written him easily. Know what you're thinking the girlfriend buys the alcohol.

I use Monumental for immediate coverage for COPD. At least i offer it. I haven't had any takers.

You need to talk to your marketer about the AmCon contract. I suppose your upline also has to be with them? I don't know if Shannon writes them or not. They are my favorite company to write. If they had better rates I would make them my primary company.

I love Am cont. Great customer service, easy to work with. I am with you on this. They would be my primary with better non-smkr rates (good smkr rates), and more lenient with diabetes. They are very tough on diabetes.

If they had better rates AND didn't kill you on renewals plus the insulin thing, they would be great. Don't build your business on a company that pays little to no renewals. You will regret that.

Either Im too new or just missing something....but I looked up Monu's renewal rates for both my retail & wholesale agent #. It was right about the same as my other carriers, in the 4-8% range for FE products. How does Monu kill u on renewals Newby?

Your comments about insulin & rates I agree with, cept for male smokers arent bad & anyone over 77+, they have the best rates!!

Re: Monumental and Their Ridiculous Univita PHI

I like Newby's way of adding the first year and renewal percentages together to give you a total payout over 5 or 10 years.

This is probably the reason I got a call from an agent telling me he had already gotten an offer for a 170% contract!

I try to get agents to focus on the 10-year commission instead of first year. It's getting more and more common for the FE companies to bump 1st year 5 or 10 points and cut renewals 40 points or more. The agents think they got a raise when that happens.

I'm going from memory but don't Am Cont's renewals go to dust after the 2nd year?

Re: Monumental and Their Ridiculous Univita PHI

Im embarrassed to say I never even looked at my contract with them.. Im in yr 2 with them right now, and I just checked my statement and Im getting 12% yr 2. Which would probably indicate a big drop off coming. Usually they will spike yr 2 to kill you afterwards.
