Monumental Direct Mail Drop

It's crazy but my Monumental IMO had no clue about the importance of a direct mail lead... heck, these dumbasses didn't even know they could get leads through Monumental... My marketer and I would talk on the phone every week about different ways to generate leads... when I found out about it and brought it up to him, he didn't have a clue...

waste of money, you're better off coldcalling a list from infofree.

UPDATE:

Ok, so I did get a couple more leads that lingered in this week and i'm pretty happy to report that of the 4000 pieces dropped through Monumental, I actually got back a total of....

41 leads bringing my lead cost to $29.26 Each

NOT BAD AT ALL

soo, I am going to order another 2000

the only negative thing with them has been the length of time it takes to do these drops...

If I order 2000 today on Friday

The Monumental mail people don't send the order over to Transamerica to do the drop until next Thursday

That order takes about a week to get processed, printed, and mailed out

soo, I actually won't even be able to see the first lead for 4 to 5 weeks

UGG!

One reason to order your drops on a regular basis. This is one thing that would make me consider EFES - their system that commits you to so many leads per week to keep the flow going is great if you can afford it.

What I don't like about the Monumental program is this essentially limits the freedom of choosing the best company for the client. I'm not sure if it explicitly states you must only sell Monumental to those leads. Even if there is no such explicit wording, I'd feel a bit guilty about writing another policy.

Anyone else have thoughts on that?

Andy

Actually, they require that you keep a 100 PPL and that is their ONLY requirement... so you shouldn't feel guilty for writing another carrier that might be better for the client...

With companies like EFES you should ONLY write their carriers with their leads or you are breaking their agreement.....

True on that but what companies would you need that RNA doesn't have? Only one I can think of is 5 Star. I've been trying to get EFES to pick them up for 2 or 3 years now.

5 Star apparently doesn't want that much business?

I wonder if the EFES/5Star issue isn't more along the lines of the deal that Royal Neighbors has with EFES... I know if I was RN the last thing I would want would be to have 5 Star moving in on my TOP IMO and taking MY business away...

No, they have approached 5 Star. It's 5 Star that doesn't want to grow that much. I know of another large IMO that tried to get 5 Star on board. If you deal with with 5 Star you will understand that they are not in a position to grow.

RNA is not EFES's number 1 carrier. That would be Americo.

I passed on 5star for now, but I was offered a very healthy contract with them. I got through to the president of marketing and had a personal conversation with him. I told him that I would not be able to commit that kind of volume (that's how I am stupid honest sometimes) and that I would pass on picking up the agency contract and warrant picking it up at a time in the future.

As far as Americo, they front load everything on the commish and its a shame for agents. The rates for non smokers are not really in the ball park.. I stick with RNA on most cases when I can and usually only go with Americo on smokers since the rates are usually the lowest.

Even with the lowered commish on the Essential Whole life, I will still use the product when it warrants.
