Monumental

No that is a Bernese Mountain Dog. Great breed of dog for a couch potato like me.

I had an Australian Shepherd that I rescued but he was way too hyper for me. I couldn't wear him out and he was always trying to herd us. Luckily someone that had rescued his brother wanted two of them real bad so he's with a family that is a better fit.

The Bernese is just about a perfect dog. Never barks. Never tears anything up. He's just a giant teddy bear. I take him to my insurance office every day and he just lays around. Our clients come in to see him more than to see me.

You are right Newby that is a beautiful animal. I had an Aussie till a few years ago. A great breed though you like you say hyper and needs to run a lot. Mine would herd the kids when they all played in the back yard. haha

In those situations it's best just to start the new one with a whole different company.

I had a case where someone had Continental Life of Brentwood Med Sup for several years. After a rate increase the same agent wrote them with MOO. I came along and sold them FE and they told me they always liked Continental better. I switched them to American Continental which had rates close to their MOO.

I didn't get paid on it. The MOO agent got the commission because he was their original Continental agent. I argued that he put them with MOO and I brought them back to Continental but it fell on deaf ears.

Ever since then, I know to never start someone new with the same company.

Live and learn the hard way but you only get burned on this once.

Those of you that write a lot of FE, is Monumental a leading company for you all? Over the course of a year, what are the top 3 companies you all write in terms of # of apps?

Different agents have different favorites but yes Monumental would be on most FE agents main group.

5-Star, Royal Neighbors, Monumental/TransAmerica, ForeThought, Americo, American Continental, Settlers, Oxford, would be the main companies in the FE biz.

UHL, American Memorial, Foresters, Baltimore Life, Mutual of Omaha, LaFayette Life, Assurity would be the next tier down. Less competitive due to either rates or unpredictable underwriting.

Then there are niche companies that are similar-captive such as Lincoln Heritage, Old American, Bankers Life, Senior Life, etc.

Lots of choices.

ACI is the easiest to use in my opinion, but rates a tad too high and commissions are too low.

Overall best carrier I believe to be 5 star. Without question. Now if they could just develop a decent agent website... nah that'd be asking too much :)

Foresters would be ok if they didn't take so long to do the darn interview. And if their rates were lower... And if they weren't an adminstrative nightmare... It seems many agents are finding easier companies to do business with.
