Most Competitive Whole Life?

If you already have Lafayette and RNA you have two very good ones.

Thanks Newby....I have heard from several agents that Lafayette is a very difficult carrier to work with, I would be interested in hearing your experience with them. I do have RNA and am in the process of contracting with Lafayette, but am nervous based upon what I have heard about them.

"If I don't have any of the four, I can get appointed"

No... you can't. I see this went right over you head. There are excellent career whole life companies and excellent independent whole life companies.

If you get appointed with a career company, that's who you write for exclusively.

So do you want to join a company or continue to work as an independent?

This will help you get answers you can use for what you want to do.

Sorry, my original question should have read - "Which NON-CAPTIVE companies do the experienced agents consider the most competitive for Whole Life?" Captive carriers do not tend to be among the best priced anyway, so I figured that would have been assumed.

Are we talking non-par or are we talking dividend paying?

If you're talking Whole Life, not term, you'll find some of the captives are very competitive. That is why they dominate that market. Term is a different story.

What you have to think and explain to clients when you're dealing with Whole Life is that there is a small bunch of companies that are excellent choices for just about everybody out there. The differences are microscopic and a person who buys and holds from any of these companies will do just fine over time.

I would talk to my client in this way...

The thing is I can't sell you some of these because these companies require a captive agent to do that. I work with the companies who are in this group that allow independent agents to write them. You will do well with any of them. I prefer this situation because I can present this company, not because I HAVE to as a captive employee, but as your agent, I CAN CHOOSE to present this company for you.

Guardian, Ohio National, a handful of other mutual are good choices. I use Guardian for Whole Life sales. Why? Solid ratings, good history, allows independent sales. The also have a good DI contract too.

Hope this helps. When you get to the point where you're selling whole life insurance, if you're among the right circle of carriers, it will be about you.

Not difficult at all if you understand what they accept. Except their application is crazy long.

(Did you grammer police notice I used accept and except correctly?)
