My First Day of Business

Results for my first full day in business as a Health (and Life) Agent:

Well, I didn't meet all my goals; however, I feel good about the effort I put in and the results that I have seen for my first day in business. One of my goals was to cold call using the dialer for a minimum of 4 hours.

I started off great this morning at 9 am, and called for 50 minutes straight and then took a break for ten minutes (it appears that when you begin an exercise program and when you have an out-of-shape 37 year old carcass, you need to eat a lot). I got back on the dialer after that and called some more. This morning was hard. Everyone I talked with was polite but defiantly not buying anything. It seems I ran behind everyone that had just sold a policy in NC (thanks guys).

After a quick lunch, I called a prospect I picked up during my few weeks of business ramp-up activities and talked about a Life policy. After that, I hit the dialer again. In total I only talked on the dialer for 2.5 hours today and I spoke to 135 people.

This afternoon I started to see the fruits of my labors. I had one very interested person want to talk later on this week. Then three people called me back and wanted to talk about health insurance. In total, I picked up 4 solid leads from 2.5 hours of cold calling! Just think what I would have picked up if I had actually met my goal of 4 hours?

It was an exciting and great first day of business! I haven't been so nervous, anxious, terrified, and excited since the last time McDonalds brought the McRib back. Now I have hours ahead of me tonight as I work on the prospect's information and try to match them up with good policies. I know as I get better and gain experience with this I'll be able to do this prep work with the client on the phone with me. But, I'm planning on taking it one day at a time, knowing that with continued effort, learning, and help (from you guys) I'll see the success I know I'm capable of reaching.

I've got an appointment at 6 for another life app. Gotta go, but I'll post how it goes tomorrow.

Hey congratulations, thats great and encouraging for us newbies out there. Can I ask what dialing system you used and how did you get your leads/prospects for the dialer.

Thanks

First of all, great job! Keep the momentum going, your pipeline will grow, you will keep a positive attitude, and start making real money. Start working your leads and forget to keep generating leads, I promise it will catch up to you later, you will have a negative attitude, and not make much money.

Not to discourage you, but actually the opposite, so you won't get discouraged: most of the leads you generated will likely NOT go anywhere even though they appeared promising at first. Don't let that get you down, it's simply a numbers game. I've been at this a while and only 20% of my self generated telemarketing leads becomes an application.

I'm using Al's dialer from www . professionaltelemarketingsolutions . com

He has a first month special and he sells his own leads (which he loads himself). However, you can buy other leads and load them into the dialer yourself.

please share your detailed information about the lead program you are working on. price, results, etc.

You said you had three people call you back. Are you leaving a voicemail? If so, what were you saying because I'm shocked people actually called you back.

It is great to hear new agents have this kind of luck. As others have said, keep building up the "interested" people. I have literally had people call me back months later. In my opinion, follow-up is key to everything. I would advise you purchase Frank's Your Insurance Office. You definitely need an organzied way to keep up with things and YIO is very simple to use and Frank provides great support. Good luck!

No, I'm not leaving a voicemail. I had about five people call me back with "I got a call on this number..." and three of them were highly interested in talking with me about health insurance. Of course, I called one of those back this morning and it went straight to voicemail, but that's the way it goes.

I'm off to hit the phones again.

They have to be a lot more than "interested" (even highly) to be a good prospect.

There are all kinds of broke and/or uninsurable people who are "interested"...they are very anxious to talk to you!

This is the inevitable result of phone cold-calling.
